Someones just done some panel damage to my precious 328i SE, should I use the insurance companies approved repair centre (Tamworth Accident Repair) or a BMW bodyshop? Its a small dent to the wheel arch and some minor scratching.

Personally I would not use the insurance approved bodyshops and use BMW. This may waive the courtesy car on offer, but with insurance you can get a courtesy car through the other parites insurance.

As the damage appears to be minor, the insurance company may also suggest one of these Dentmaster companies!!

Its your choice, but I will never use an insurance approved place unless it was BMW or a very very reputable place that I know!

Its nationwide accident repair centres in tamworth.
A friend said they did a really good job on a repair for him.

Where is the nearest BMW repair centre to Tamworth?

The one up here in Gatesheaqd did a p*** poor job on the 540 my dad was running.Refused it twice,left the boot a mess etc etc.I would go use BMW imo

Hmmmm Rydale Sutton is closest, but my boss bought a Mini Cooper S from there and he reckons they are crap.

Looks like they would be able to pop the dent out, and respray, bumper needs a slight securing.

I'm not convinced that the badge above the door makes a lot of difference.

I've had good bodywork done at a wide variety of body shops. Look for some reccomendations.

The damage was some paint scratches and scuffs to the rear bumper on the drivers side and a dent 1/4 of the way back on the rear drivers side wheel arch (dent was 1" square ish) and a bit of paint scratching and scuffs there too, due to the very minor damage whats the chances of something in the suspension, driving wheels, etc being damaged?

AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH why cant people get in the right lane and look before moving and when they see someone not carry on driving into them but turn in the opposite direction to avoid a collision....

Remember that if you can prove you have a BMW dealership who has regularly maintained your car that it becomes very difficult for an insurance company to refuse you using them.

If they do, mention a solicitor - they'll back down immediately.

Use BMW as I did when I had my accident, at least you know they will do a decent job on the car.

My 99V 323Ci also had a dent on wheel arch and needed respray.  BMW approved bodyshop charged £422 (inc VAT and labour). 

The dent was about 2.5cm long and 3mm deep.  I also suggest you to use BMW approved bodyshop.  You get what you pay.

The previous owner took to the same BMW dealers garage for 5 years but that garage is a little far away from me, bout 1hr drive. Would the thing coasting saying be relevant...

Different insurers have different policies.  Big insurance companies may allow you to take your car to your preferred repairer.

I actually paid the whole invoice first and sent the copy to my insurance company to reimburse my expense. 

But you better ask your insurer, and send them some quotes.  Or you may try to phone BMW Accident Management, they may be able to help.  But in your case, the damage is not major, BMW Accident Management may not help.  If they do, they will handle everything, including contacting your insurance company and BMW approved bodyshop.

Well I been to the place today, they gave me a quote of £560 plus VAT all in. They will send it directly to the other peoples insurance co.

They had a huge number of certificates from major motoring bodies dating back over the last 15 years... so I now have to wait for their insurance co to approve the work.

DO NOT USE NATIONWIDE!!!!!!!!

They USED to do our company cars, they are an absolute joke! Repairs are poor and they take forever to do anything. This was not a locallised incident, we had problems "Nationwide" with them!

Good job you aren't in swindon - dick lovett spraymaster (approved BMW, Porsche, merc, lexus et al) are absolute cr@p!

No less than 3 refusals to sign off their work. the first attempt was the wrong bloody colour!!!

National repair centres tend to be run by accountants with bottom lines, not craftsmen. go for a recommended indie.

its not Nationwide, I have had issues with them in the past. Its another company I got them mixed up.

The one I went to was Tamworth Accident Repair centre.

Anyone had experience with these:

Tamworth Accident Centre Ltd

Units D-E, Riverside Ind Est, Atherstone St, Fazeley, Tamworth, Staffordshire B78 3RW
Tel: 01827 251101

As I say they have 20 - 30 certificates on their reception walls covering the last 15 years from various motoring bodies.
They said they would take the rear arch down the metal, filler it and then re-layer the paint and then blend it into the door panel and the rest of the rear wing.... However a mate said they should drill through it pop it back out filler the hole from the drill then do all that.... This not being my area of expertise I dont know....
