Hi All,
I have asked 3 different sources and got 3 different answers to the pressure I should put in my tyres. I have an 03 520 (E39) and the wheels are Front: 225/45/18 Rear: 235/45/18 I have Bridgestone Potenza tyres, I never have anyone in the car and drive city and backroads. Thanks |

For what it's worth, I am running an E46 on 18's with 2.1 bar in front and 2.5 bar in the rears (225/40 and 255/35 Michelin PS2).
These are the numbers, for up to four passengers, in the door jamb of my car. Edited by larzyh |

As far as I'm aware, that rear tyre size was never officially fitted to the E39 - the rear should be 245/40/18 (assuming staggered alloy wheels). Anyhow - correct 18" tyre pressures should be as has already been said be on a sticker on the door jamb & also in the owners handbook. |

7. Safety & Inflation Pressure Car manufacturer’s tyre pressure recommendations should always be followed and can be found in the car manual. Incorrect tyre pressure is one of the major causes of tyre degradation. This seriously affects safety, driving performance, tyre life as well as fuel consumption .Thus we recommend that: - You measure and adjust pressure when the tyre is cool at least once a month (for continuous high-speed highway driving, increase recommended tyre pressure by 0.2 to 0.3 bar (3 to 5 psi)). - You check tyre wear with tread wear indicator. They appear in the main grooves when tread has worn down to 1.6mm, indicating that tyres MUST be replaced. Bridgestone Official Information. Some tyres have tyre pressure printed on the tyre, but seems like its more important to follow car manufacturer recommendations. And as already said- these pressures should be in the handbook or inside car (open the door and there should be sticker on the side of the door or doorframe) |
