Never owned a car that I Hated but my second car gave me alot of bother but at the same time I Loved it! It was a 106xsi 1.4i with no cat(big differance to the ones with Cats)
Put a new engine gearbox and clutch in it in the space of 2 months!
Loved it to bits but in the end some w**ker stole my wheels and at that stage I decided a Change was in order!

Best car I've owned is a very tight Contest Between a 306 D-turbo chipped to 140bhp and My present Car that I love to bits!

Worst car I drove was a Ferrari 348, but saying that it was a rental car and the nuts were probably driven out of it all its life!

I have never bought a car that I really wanted to own that tunred out to be crap  but i have been dissappointed by two.

My BMW328 when I first got it handled like a pig and took about £1500 and 18 months before I got it driving as well as it should have. Ok so not the cars fault as such, more to do with it's age and miles. But I have owned lots of high milage cars that didn't have the problems the BMW had. So in the end it was a great car but the first year or so were a real let down.

Accord Type-R. Great for the 5% of the time when you get the chance to drive it hard. Rubbish for the remaining 95%. Noisy, uncomfortable so rubbish on long journeys. Worse mpg than my 328 and needed to be run on 98ron so not cheap to run, especially for a N/A 2.2. Torque steered and tramlined for England and not nice to drive in trafic. A great car when you were on a quite B road on a sunny day but crap for the daily commute and the motorway.

Entering an age of Austerity and now driving a Focus Diesel.

No Dergside, it actually was the 2.0 litre model I had, which had 143bhp if I remember correctly. Dull as dishwater it was too. I really missed the e36 and was bored stiff with the 318ci in no time.

Not too surprising you were disappointed ff22, the e36 318iS had 140bhp but the e46 318Ci only had 118bhp (the e36 iS had the 16v engine), although both were 1.9litre.  It was a bit of a sharp one that BMW pulled that wasn't put right until the 2.0 appeared in late '01.  That brought the power back to 143, I think.

Now: BMW 523i SE '00, 318i SE - e91 '07, 325i Coupe '93.

Have to agree with Mick. My missus had an impreza and she could pass everything but a petrol station. I was impressed with the power and the handling but overall build quality put me off them. We had to get rid of it in the end because the car wouldn't settle right on the road until 70mph!

i think the most disappointing car i owned was a impreza 99 wrx sti the power and the handling was unbelievable but everything use to rattle inside, the door panels,  parts on the dash it would drive you mad i used ti have to drive from kilcock to kinnegad to put shell v power in because if i didnt the check engine light would come on, this car would pass most things except a garage you couldnt afford to keep petrol in this car i had it about 4 months and had to get rid of it

It kills me to say it as a total volvo nut but the most disappointing car for me would have to be the Volvo 850 T5-R i bought last year, fancied a change from the e34 and this 1 owner example came up that i had known from new, always wanted one, 250bhp, sports pack electric everything etc etc. It did live up to my expectations power wise, kickdown was unreal! but the handling and steering was god awful!, i think it was ivan that said it earlier about the saab at motorway speeds-like driving jelly, the fedback was terrible and that was coming from an e34 with a steering box, handling could only really be described as dangerous, it was so lacking in feel that when you pushed it nothing for a second then monumental understeer and the scariest lift off oversteer ive ever come across, back was also very unstable under heavy braking, that and averaging 17mpg with the slushbox meant it had to go.

I sold it about 6 weeks later for nearly double what i paid for it, so it didnt work out too bad, plus i hadnt sold the e34 in the mean time so no real damage done!

Next on the list is an e36 m3, hoping it wont disappoint...

98' E39 M5 - Avus Blue, Dec Car!
96' M3 Saloon - Estoril Blue

Imprezza UK 2000 Turbo, most amount of £££ id spent on a car and I was very disappointed

Awful brakes, loads of under steer, poor direction change at speed, wallowy and poor build quality...wasnt even that fast once rolling.

Without a doubt the worst thing I ever talked myself into buying.

Seeing as a touch of nostalgia is creeping in...

First car was a '82 Fiat Ritmo 105tc (in 1988) - a Escort XR3 equivalent at the time for half the money.  The sound of the twin cam engines from this era of Fiat was fantastic, it was black and had alloys, sports seats and spoilers and there was very little chance of parking next to another (obviously they weren't the popular choice of the time!).  The reg was 105 OZU, somewhat appropriate.

It could also qualify for the most disappointing because one of the chassis legs cracked and required some delicate welding - a Ritmo weak point.

My nomination for disappointing car has to be a '95 Honda Accord 2.0 LSi Coupe.

Traded my Civic Coupe in against it (fantastic car!), and it didn't feel nearly as lively from the get go.  Also felt like a barge on the road compared to the civic.  Gearbox was always iffy, and trim kept falling off.  It's biggest plus was cruise control.

In theory that was an advantage. A tried and tested chassis, GM running gear and Saab build quality.

Package just didn't add up in practice.

I believe the Viggen was also a bit of a dissapointment, apparently you couldn't put the power down in it. Heard it described as dangerous.

1st car = Honda Integra 1.5, the pop-up light 5dr one. Loved it (can anyone not love their 1st car?). I'd so much nookie back then...

2nd car = Mazda 323F 1.5, the cool looking one. Loved this as much. great handling, lovely to look at and sit in.

3rd car = Xsara VTR. Got this for good money with only 20k up on it after 3yrs, and sold it 7 months & 14k later for profit. Loved this too, partic the handling which was so fluid and mobile at the rear without being dangerous.

4th car = Bought my 1st gaff, & used Xsara toward it. Hence E34 518i bought for €635, driven for 18months & 31k, and sold for €635. Loved this to bits. Intro to RWD, and it was plenty lively.

5th car = E34 525i. Also loved this to bits.

6th car = E36 328i. A slow burner this, after the E34s. But once I set it up the way I wanted, it was right up there at the top. I still miss it some days.

7th car = E36 M3. Probably the disappointing one out of the lot. Can't put my finger quite on it, as it does everything great. But it just doesn't interest me like the others did for some reason. Maybe it's just too good?

8th.... M-Coupe I think!

I have a load of cars that I wanna get. M-Coupe, E46 M3, 993 C2 (on 16s!), Clio V6, Elise, caterham...... not to mention a late 80's S-Class, Opel Monza, various Maseratis (Q'porte or Ghibli being top of the list), Lancia Fulvia, Alfa GTV6 (old inboard brakes one), Citroen CX Turbo, Saab 900 Turbo 16, Citroen C6, Peugeot 505 GTi, Fiat Strada 130TC, Lotus Sunbeam..... I could go on for the day.

So many cars, so little money.
