Ohhhh yes been there done that.

Driving to Mallaig at 10.30 at night last October.  Fogs on, full beam on and hammering along to get to my nightshift and me spots one of those 4 legged things with a large pair of horns standing at the side of the road with my fog beams!  Time to ease off I think and be late!

On the way back a herd decides to cross in front of me near Glenfinnan.  Ah well at least I know the BMW ABS works!

I hit one of those things a few years back in a hired Toyota Avensis (note the word hired, not mine!).  Little thing about the size of Bambi decides to jump off the verge in front of me around one of the many sharp blind bends on the A82 up the side of Loch Lomond.  No chance to stop.  One new head light where its backside hit, one new grill where its head hit, new bumper, bonnet, wing, number plate, the list goes on.  All in all 1500 worth of damage from a little deer.

Andrew

Been hiding in broom (broom) cupboard but Wendy says no pointy heads so far! Actually, been reading instructions for new fax machine, and that accepts sms as well! Would never have thought to look if you hadn't told me!

Expect by the time Wendy tells Andy in London everyone in UK will know so RAFA, IAM, RSPCA, will probably all have it on agenda!IanT

Oh no! I usually wear trainers(black or blue, I'm unsteady on my feet) and my BMW baseball cap! Does this mean I'm infected with the dreaded Chavitus..........Must inoculate immediately with several large scotches!  IanT

Apparently you can get either front fog, or 'driving' lamps. One has a focussed beam rather than a more spread pattern.
I tend to put mine on when driving along country lanes with grass verges etc. As the low wide beam picks everthing out, nice for spotting wildlife just before it decides to run out on you.. Though I usually turn them off when there is any approaching traffic etc.

Reading all these, made many similar comments in past. What I hate as well is centre drivers who eventually pull over then race you when you try to pass having been stuck behind them forever, they're usually in something with half the engine size and power  of a Reliant Robin.

Also get annoyed about the increasing amount of gibberish used orally and in writing instead of english, several times have had text messages, emails etc and had to contact sender to ask what the hell their message said!

Fogs and spots, there's a subject!Isn't it illegal to have them wired other than fogs to ONLY come on with dip beam and spots ONLY with main beam? So how do so many new cars get them on without any other lights or sidelights only? Agree with mostly all posts, especially bazookas for centre lane hogs! IanT

To be fair to CLOC drivers on the M25, the inside lane is now so worn out between J5 and J8 that it's tramline central and almost impossible to get out of the tramlines without the car getting skittish. It's the same on parts of the A303.

It's the nissan micra drivers who sit there in the middle lane at 45mph that do me in.

CLOC=centre lane owners club

M = Money 3 = 3 x as much....

You are 100% correct Andrew !!!!!!! Maybe these folk's who use this way of communicating did not pay attention at school in English class ? But as said previously i think it is just down to LAZINESS . If you have something interesting to say let every one be able to know what you have to say , not only the " text maniacs " !!!!

If these people wrote like that in a job application  the people reading it would think :-

a) this person can't spell ?

b) this person is a complete idiot & is incapable of communicating .

I know it wasn't the 'scottishness' you were getting at but the poor state of the writing, like no capital letters (chav keyboards don't have a caps lock or shift button it would appear) and spelling 'of' as 'ov'.  This requires more effort as you actually have to think more to type in the v instead of the f to make it wrong.  They must think chav is spelt 'chaf' then.

If you want to practise your chav language, read some of the posts that have been posted on the Scottish pages of this forum from a few weeks back.  I would give up reading them as it was so difficult to read and understand.  Someone started a rant about it on the Scottish forum. angrysoapbox.gif

Great link... nearly myself laughing. So true! Mind you some of it can be related to one or to topics posted on this website in the past!

In similar vein, why not visit Sheppey Scum, which tells you all about a real life "Little Britain" on the North Kent coast.

Just to reinforce the impression of a wasteland / Gates of Hell / blasted heath, etc., you will note that the Isle of Sheppey has only ONE access point - a massive carbuncle of a concrete bridge.....
