I would choose the body shop that does the best work.  Just because  the  shop is BMW doesn't mean a thing, and choosing on that basis alone would be a mistake.

I know people who have taken their cars to main dealers and come back with mis-matched paint.  Sure the finish was excellent but the colour was out.

Well at the beginning of August the other parties insurance company finally admitted liability, even though I had a third party witness statement backing me up and her front left hit my rear right. They had offered me a 50/50 which I flat refused as I knew it was her fault.
Anyway middle of August their approver says yes to the work and its been done and I am very happy with the work. I got a courtesy car whilst mine was being repaired (Vauxhall Zafira 2ltr DTI) which wasnt all that bad I spose and they did a geometry check and checked the rear subframe for damage too. If you are in the midlands I would recommend them. Also the work came in at £200 under the original quote estimate.

Its all going via the other parties insurance company at the moment. Mine has been informed but have closed it for now (can be reopened if need be). I assume they are contacting the witness and waiting for confirmation. But she came from lane 2 into lane 1, her front left hitting my rear right, to go off an exit we were passing (last minute job) rather than continue round the roundabout and getting in the correct lane next time round.

Standard procedure matey, insurance companies will do anything not to pay out!

If you have legal cover, start demanding payment or you will sue - that normally moves people along!

Anyone had experience with these:

Tamworth Accident Centre Ltd

Units D-E, Riverside Ind Est, Atherstone St, Fazeley, Tamworth, Staffordshire B78 3RW
Tel: 01827 251101

As I say they have 20 - 30 certificates on their reception walls covering the last 15 years from various motoring bodies.
They said they would take the rear arch down the metal, filler it and then re-layer the paint and then blend it into the door panel and the rest of the rear wing.... However a mate said they should drill through it pop it back out filler the hole from the drill then do all that.... This not being my area of expertise I dont know....

Rydale's body shop is near their Oldbury branch (on the Wolverhampton Road area I think)

Good job you aren't in swindon - dick lovett spraymaster (approved BMW, Porsche, merc, lexus et al) are absolute cr@p!

No less than 3 refusals to sign off their work. the first attempt was the wrong bloody colour!!!

National repair centres tend to be run by accountants with bottom lines, not craftsmen. go for a recommended indie.

Where is the nearest BMW repair centre to Tamworth?

DO NOT USE NATIONWIDE!!!!!!!!

They USED to do our company cars, they are an absolute joke! Repairs are poor and they take forever to do anything. This was not a locallised incident, we had problems "Nationwide" with them!

Well I been to the place today, they gave me a quote of £560 plus VAT all in. They will send it directly to the other peoples insurance co.

They had a huge number of certificates from major motoring bodies dating back over the last 15 years... so I now have to wait for their insurance co to approve the work.

Different insurers have different policies.  Big insurance companies may allow you to take your car to your preferred repairer.

I actually paid the whole invoice first and sent the copy to my insurance company to reimburse my expense.

But you better ask your insurer, and send them some quotes.  Or you may try to phone BMW Accident Management, they may be able to help.  But in your case, the damage is not major, BMW Accident Management may not help.  If they do, they will handle everything, including contacting your insurance company and BMW approved bodyshop.

My 99V 323Ci also had a dent on wheel arch and needed respray.  BMW approved bodyshop charged £422 (inc VAT and labour).

The dent was about 2.5cm long and 3mm deep.  I also suggest you to use BMW approved bodyshop.  You get what you pay.

Use BMW as I did when I had my accident, at least you know they will do a decent job on the car.

Remember that if you can prove you have a BMW dealership who has regularly maintained your car that it becomes very difficult for an insurance company to refuse you using them.

If they do, mention a solicitor - they'll back down immediately.
