1) Try disconnecting your battery and see if that sets the alarm off as it should.
2) I wonder if the alarm fob is 'coded' to your alarm? Don't know if your version would be one you can recode yourself or if it requires a dealer... |

I have decided to get my alarm system up and running. When I bought the car, it was fitted with the OE spec BMW alarm system but it didn't work, I thought its probably a minor niggly thing and that I'd get around to sorting it one day as I always use a steering lock anyway. Today, I had a look at the alarm system, the battery in the alarm key fob is fine. All the alarm system components are present and appear to be in tact (to my knowledge) but the system just doesn't respond in any way when I press the buttons on the key fob. Can anyone give me some pointers as what to try/check etc so that I can get it working?
