This happened to me last year at xmas, you open the door and the locks dont spring back when you have opened them. Abit of hot water on the locks sorted this, but i assumed it was just the doors freezing, but there must be some moisture or water in the locks for this to have happened. It has never happened since!! even though it has been colder this year.

Sounds like something in the door lock has gone. Maybe the grease is freezing in the cold weather when the car has sat overnight. The clue is when you use hot water, it seems to work... See if you can get another from a scrappie and replace it...will require you to take the door card off though...not really that hard...takes about 3 hours to complete... BB |

my e39 has developed another little problem (wonder why I want a e60) in the cold for the last few days when i unlock the car and open the door its fune but when I try shut it it wont shut, lock wont budge doors handles etc seem to be working but nothing.
After pooring hot water all over the outside and my dad pushing his wieght against it finaly shut. as soon as I got to work about 10 mins later got out and shut the door without an issue. is a seal gone or something or just another typical e39 quirk lol.any suggestions if it happens again? cheers |
