Hi Nigel,
It would appear you are on to a winner regarding the Morgan meet. I have counted 15 persons on this board so far who are keen to go (5 of these have not stated whether they will be accompanied so have counted them as one each) plus yourself as one, plus perhaps Darren and Karen if they are organising this visit. This would make this to be at least 18 persons. Is there a limit on group numbers?
A date as soon as possible would be useful especially for those members organising holidays and/or other events.

I think the Magazine and Forum, should be complementing each other, and the magazine should list the Long term regional Events, in different locations. If a local area event gets support within the Region, its dealt with on Forum, and can be sometimes at short notice. We Need to promote The Forum much more in the magazine, and steps are in hand to do this.If say 3/4 local regional club Reps are needed, to be a contact point, and generate idea,s then fine, if thats the wish.Surely the most Important acheivement is for owners to get together , without long distance travel , if they want to.

I'll see if John thinks its okay, like you, many years under his belt.

I think it will be a good idea as the central region is large, and it would be unreasonable to expect the aylesbury/ milton keynes lads and lasses to travel to warwick just for an evening, although I do realise Darren and Karen were travelling some distance.

We also have people just as far to the north.

I wonder if we actually have to have a committee ?

Does that seem a bit too formal ?

With Darren as central rep, couldnt ALL members be the committe ?

Best Wishes

Nigel

Yes I Agree - Realisticly both are needed, there is always going to be some people who cannot make a pub (?) meet because of  work or prior commitments, if the region is looking at becoming more active then post a report of meetings on forum, it may incourage web based readers to attend, Also articles are needed for magazine to encourage others to come out to play, sorry join in the fun, they could be about anything initally,

Seems a good idea Phil, to re-try that is.

How about.....to compliment those sorts of ideas, a web based jobby.

It might be easier for those people who use the net, and who would find it inconvienient to travel to warwick on a particular night, work and distance etc.

I see no reason why we couldnt use the central region forum, actually seems a good use for it.

I realise we would have to be careful not to exclude people who dont have/dont want to use internet access, so someone in authority, possibly Darren and Karen could let the mags know.

What do you think ?

Best Wishes

Nigel

Going back to my earlier comments about a committee - sorry to confuse.

A few years ago  -like 2 - there was a monthly pub night in Warwick where we tried to relaunch the region. About half a dozen stalwarts turned up and Darren and Karen coordinated everything. We put together a calender of events, from memory 5. These were advertised in the club mag.. I put together the events but Karen arranged everything. They were all drives/visits and lunches. Attendance varied from about 20 to 10. Last year Z events took my attention and nothing was arranged in the region except the poorly attended picnic to Waddesden Manor.

I believe that the majority of members dont use this message board and therefore wont know about the events here. Straight Six and the Mag go to everyone and therefore more people will know about things. Problem is lead time - the mag goes to print many weeks in advance so an event calender needs to be put together for entry in the mag..

I'm planning 4 Sunday events for the Z register which of course anyone can attend.

These are The Cotswold Cruise, The Rutland Water Wander, The Peak District Dayout and a Cruise around Shropshire/Herefordshire.

Thats fine Mark, if you think that is easier than asking the club office.

I think the committe have a meeting soon.

Your probably too young to remember , I cant think what it was called, but there was a program on the telly when I was a kid, where a bloke in a cap with a bell would say in a northern accent "members of the committee" whilst ringing the bell.

whenever committe is mentioned I always think of that.

Nurse... the screens please

I shall endevour to speak to the office next week re Mini plant tour, just so we dont get our wires crossed, or double book!

Chances are that you might end up doing the tour while Im at work! but as I work in the paint shop, I dont get to see the tours because of health and safety reasons, the dont come in our building.

Will pm you to let you know what they say, if thats ok?

Regards

Mark.

Have you noticed that most BMWCC regions have a committee that arranges and organises the region and events. I'm on the Z register committee along with 2 others and thats newly formed.

Perhaps someone should ask Darren whether such a committee should be formed and as the area director he would /should chair it.

There would then be some cohesion to the regional plans.

Just food for thought.

Looks like I'll have a good turnout for my Cotswold event but no Central region members.

With regards to the initial Milton Keynes meets-I may start non-CC advertising due to the level of BMs there are around here, flyers may drum up further interest especially if you consider there are 3 other E36 M3s in my village and I regularly see other older BMs including an M3GT on my MK trips.

Gentlemen

I have spoken to Darren Webster today.

He hasnt been on the forum as he has computer problems, so hadnt recieved my e-mail.

So until he is online again, I'm posting his replys, and am in contact by phone.

He is very pleased with the response.

The pub lunches are just organised by ourselves, if we give the club office notice, they will publicise them for us.

The Morgan trip : Darren informs me that I need to get at least 10 people for this, and it will most likely be in May.

I will now post in the club events forum, will those who were kind enough to give thier support please re-post as a reply in there, will they either e-mail or pm me with thier club membership number or contact telephone number.

I have to contact hams hall to see if they will give us a tour, and if so, how many people they want to attend.

Mark, re mini plant. Darren thinks the club are already organising a tour around your workplace, if you have time could you check with the club office so we dont double.

Apparently Aston Martin is a no no at this time.

ok everyone, thanks for all the responses.

I'm waiting for Darren to pop up, best give him a couple of days...only polite really, he explained to me how you can get bogged down with club stuff, I'll probably give him a ring tomorrow evening if I'm home early enough.

Peter, the sarcasm is only light hearted I'm sure, I didnt know about the stuff you used to do until we spoke with each other, so I'm sure no one is taking the mickey.

Its just coming up to my second renewal, so not been a member for long, and its very very easy to tread on toes here, you can appear as a very senior member on here and you havent actually done much for the club, on the other hand, you can appear as a newbie and have been a member for years and years, like yourself and John, and dare I say...kevin.

Its been a dam good response though, and has even taken me by suprise.

To re-cap

1) A few of us fancy a pub lunch, Davids looking at the first one in the east midlands.

2) The malvern trip looks like it has a lot of interest..I'm just waiting for Darren, that ones his baby.

3) Hams Hall looks a good one, phil doesnt have time, again I'll run it past Darren, and if he wants to do it, thats  fine, if not, and he's happy about it I'll contact them.

4) ratbark, good old boy as he is , is going to look into a mini tour for us.

5) dont forget phils cruise, go on, someone see if they can keep up with him

So far so good, I've run what I've done so far past a club offical, now I need to get Darren Webster involved, he is the central area rep, not me, I'm just a bod here !!

Nice one chaps, I'll be in touch shortly
