Many thanks again for your input guys!
Unfortunately, the car which was described as having "Just literally a couple of spots of rust on the rear arches" and "you'd have to really look to find any other rust" turned out after a 4 1/2 hour drive up there, to have completely frilly rear arches which had recently been sprayed over to disguise the rust and massive structural rust behind one of the front shock towers.
Hmmmmm. Not impressed. That's 450 miles round trip and £60 in petrol I'll never see again.
Ho hum!

Was it a genuine sport?
it really hacks me off when cars are mis-described. I viewed many e30 convertibles but one "immaculate" car which was far from so with "a slight rip in the hood", sticks in my mind. Okay the hood had a slight tear but he ommited to mention that his dog had eaten the entire bolster on one of the leather front seats! I'd fought my way along the south coast on the day of the london to brighton mini run for that one.

I reasonably convinced it was a genuine sport. However, my mate spotted something I didn't which was that the rear pillars changed shade ever so slightly about 6" down from the roof on each side, so infact it might have been TWO sports.
Bargain, two for the price of one.
Bit hacked off with the whole thing really as it was a complete waste of a whole day. Think I'll just get hold of a close ratio 'box and slippy diff for my boggo 325i and be done with it!

Sorry to hear it turned out to be a dog...
But just for info... my first Sport (an '87 model 10 years ago!) didn't have power steering. It was quite an unusual one as it was 'originally' Diamond Black with a tan interior... looked really nice.
Anyway, hope you find a decent one soon...
Giles.

Again, I think if you wanted anthracite headlining and was willing to pay for it, you could have it, there's quite a few 318is's out there with it too as Chris says (Mark R's has got it).
The ETK even lists anthracite headlining for the touring.

No... the 318iS was never called a Sport, in the same way the 320iS was never called a Sport, though was based on a 325i Sport shell, so had the black headlining as standard... confused now?
Not all 318iS's came with LSD or black headlining as standard... mine didn't come with either when I bought it. No check control, no OBC, no map reading lights... but they ALL came with Sports seats and Mtech suspension...
Almost as confusing as the 325i Motorsports... but let's not get into that!
Giles.
