Got a 728 and want to know how I can beef it up a little, since I got beat by a Saxo GTS the other night and still haven't recovered.

The only problem I find is not much stuff in the way of performance improvement is available for the E38. I have thought about Super Chipping but what happens when you come to service time you can exactly whip it out before hand, it stains your FBMWSH Holy Grail. Also on the subject of chipping can it improve on fuel consumption as well?

Firstly i don't think you'll get a 728 to beat a VTS mate, they are far to light and nippy. The problem with the 7 is its not a performance car, its ment for rolling. If you want to chip it i can still be serviced as many chips can be undetectable by the dealer but even if they do see it they'd have to be fussy not to service it. I good chip will improve fuel consumption on a normal driving cycle, but if you put your foot down alot then your likely to see it being worse on fuel. If your after something more nimble then pick up a cheap 3 to throw about, or if you like the 7's get a 740 or similar, they're much quicker. |

At low speeds the Saxo has a huge inertial advantage, as speed rises the power to drag ratio will swing in favour of the 728.

The exhaust on the Saxo actually sounded quite lound and deep, it's what stuck in my mind.
I know very little about performance mods etc and came across a site yesterday Super Chipsdon't know if this is any good or not? Whilst on the subject of modding I know this may not be the best forum to post this question under but anyone know anywhere that offers body kits for the 7 series? Everywhere I look it seems to be for 3 & 5 series only. I do like the Alpina B12 but it sits about a million miles outside of my budget. Edited by our728 |

I know where there is a Alpina B10 Bi-turbo for sale. You can sell the 7 and buy that, nothing will challenge you and have a fighting chance this side of a 911 Turbo. 389BHP 189MPH top speed 5.0 secs to 60 or thereabouts.
