A line, as in "the best line" or "the racing line", when used in reference to a racing track means the fastest route around the track... most times its the shortest route, but not always. Basically you want to keep to that line for max speed & acceleration, and so you dont have to do any psycho gear changes mid corner.

 of course... back to topic.

"Holiday in IRL" & "Stena Line" require a change from 2nd to 3rd mid-bend in my yoke as you're hitting the limiter, and that's on the taught line (in the dry). As you say the line often isn't the shortest route, but the one that will allow you to get on the power quickest and carry the most speed out and down the straight.

Get those bushes sorted in time and get the car out, llatsnI!!!

I know 7a to 7b pretty well - spent a bit of time "holidaying" in the sand (gravel) there earlier in the year!!!

@ UJM3: Turn 3 is a ball cos it requires the most commitment I think. It can go from fun to scary pretty quick too...

You go in at the top of 3rd gear, a quick turn & drift for the initial entry, get it straightened while keeping on the throttle to keep some bit of balance, then once straightened hard on brakes and a blip down to 2nd before the tight part.

It's hard to put the power down out of the corner though without a limited slip diff. My last car (E34 525) used to spin the inside rear badly which was annoying, and this corners exit was my primary reason for buying the 328 - it had a limmo!

The next bend has a lovely entry too, as you're turning in while in 3rd gear and braking, & needing to get a decent heel&toe down into 2nd while the car is loaded up. When you get it right and there's hardly a shimmy from the back end, then tis a great buzz.

 

 

Thanks TJ.. its the corner that has me most puzzeled about how to approch it dont like the way it tightens.. hope theres plenty of run off...

BTW what preperation are you lads planning for your cars.. im just going for an oil change and bleed the brakes..(ive to replace a track rod as well..irish roads )
