After having three 5 series, I liked the look of the 7 (1992) and picking it up on Sunday (won off EBay) for 1k - what do you think?

Let's hope so, thanks - I like the chrome exhaust, was going to get that done on my 525 but didn't get round to it.

Invest 80 though and get that dreadful numberplate
removed though. Few things look worse than an older BMW or Merc with a 50 Irish plate - really, really pikey. Looks superb in that colour with a dechrome. Cruise control is well worth having too. Does look like a lovely old thing though. 1000 - It's scary isn't it? What kind of Fiesta can you buy for a grand??? ![]() |

Thanks for the feedback, and yes I think I'll have to get rid of the number plate - it is a bit dodgy!
![]() Looking forward to a bit more space and the leather/cruise - the only thing that seems to be missing is a CD/MP3 setup. Looking forward to it, and yes for a grand it should be great ![]() |

You could sell the floor mat with the number plate as 2 for 1 Taz offer! Lovely car otherwise though. |

Picked it up today - drove 200 miles home and what can I say - very happy and impressed
![]() Anyway, It reminds me of my old 525 - similar speed, but sounds a bit better (deeper) and smoother to drive and a few more toys. It handled well at speed and is smooth/quiet on the motorway. Looking forward to a fair few more miles out of her. |

Ah! so you are the one who bought it. Congratulaltions. I try to look at all the E32s and E38s on EBay and put some on my "What I am Watching" page.
I always regret selling my E32 1994 730 V8; such a smooth silky engine. When I was in the car the stresses of the day just faded away. Fly fishing had been my ultimate stress buster but that car beat it by miles. Luckily my son who still has his 1998 735, being an ex-mechanic helped me quite a bit. I purchased the tools and equipment and he gave me the help and guidance. I used to spend time looking for excuses to strip down and renew parts just for the fun of it. I purchased the equipment to renew the rear suspension bushes so he could renew those on his car. Of course I had to renew mine for no reason except it was fun. We even fitted the American style sidelights that fitted in each side of the bumpers front and back. We used to drive through the main shopping centres just to view the cars in the the reflection of the windows. No! don't feel sorry for me as I am now beginning to grow out of this strange fanaticism. I love my E39 but my eyes are straying to the E38. Anyway, good luck with the 730. Dave E |

Thanks for the warm welcome, much appreciated.
![]() Up to now very happy with the car, seems very similar to my 95' 525 - but the engine is a lot smoother (& bit quicker) and the auto box is smoother than the 5. Really glad I made the move, love the looks and refinement of the 7. Just think in 10 years time, should be able to pick up a 02/52 reg 7 for about a grand! |

and a 1k e65 with a host of electrical problems that'll have you going back to college to learn all about fixing it?
I do wonder what these e65's will be like in years to come! |

Looks great - I'm thinking of upgrading my 6 cyl 730 to the V8 and wondered what you thought. What average MPG are you returning just out of curiosity? Enjoy |
