Topic: E39 Roundels-possible group buy Posted: 04-November-2005 at 03:27 |
Guys
I'm talking to a guy about getting these real carbon fibre roudels for the E39 bonnet and boot. The owner of the shop has said if there's enough interest in a group buy he'd do a discount.
Anyone else or has my sense of taste gone south for winter?

carbon firbe tat on a BM?
go to ur nearest halfords, go wander round the ripspeed section for as long as u can bear it
then go outside and look outside and look at the saxos and corsa's outside ( they are a standard featcher of halfords car parks i am sure)
if that does not restore ur sense of taste, cut up ur credit cards and dont buy anything untill the new year
but if u really do find the need to buy a pair i think they are fairly cheap on ebay, they seem to go for a lot less than the proper badges go for.

Ebay ones are carbon fibre copy not real carbon fibre.
As for Carbon Fibre tat it doesnt stop gruppeM or various others making airboxes out of em or hartge & hamann doing eyebrows & grills in it, ACSchnitzer doing bodykits,spoilers and interiors in it or indeed BMW themselves doing M3 CSL roofs and interiors in it-and none of that's available at Halfords either.
Will check on E34 sizes & see what I can do.

As for Carbon Fibre tat it doesnt stop gruppeM or various others making airboxes out of em..... |
point is they use carbon to save weight not as a patern
and weather the badges u buy are real or fake carbon it doesnt matter the 500g u might save is not going to have even the slightlest affect on ur cars performance
so the end result is u just have a badge which is so chav like it may as well be burberry.
have a thumb through a copy of max power or fast car and maybe u will be able to understand where i'm coming from

I don't suppose for 1 minute that any1 here thinks that a carbon fibre badge is gonna improve performance or provide a massive weight saving.
As for being so chav then thats up to you and what you think. You do seem to be an expert on it though so I'll leave you in peace with your copies of Max Power etc.
If BMW/ACS/et al wanted to just save weight on the various splitters,spoilers,roofs etc then they'd fit it n spray over it.........I seem to remember every1 drooling over how good the CF roof LOOKED.
If you don't want 1 fine,don't buy 1 just don't clog up the thread asking for people who may be interested.

OK fellow chavs I'm just waiting for confirmation on price but have the following info on sizes for you to check:
E39s-have both front & rear to fit, size 82mm front, 76mm rear
E34-have both front & rear to fit, sizes are 82mm front & rear.
For those of you with E28s the front size should be 82mm and rear should be the same but can someone check for me?
The black carbon fibre ones are available as are the following;
Black and silver real carbon fibre;
Black carbon fibre effect
Or for the real chavtastic fans;
Prices to follow asap.

Shame the black and carbon ones are only carbon affect otherwise I would have had a set. Only black or blue carbon for me. In my opinion the black and silver is just too much. A set of REAL carbon and whites can be had for about £30 on ebay (and yes they are REAL carbon).
Same company I believe so have a word!
