I've been out of the dating game for a long, long time, but met someone nice over the weekend.  With Valentines coming up, should I bring her out and do the dinner and flowers thing, or should I ignore it completely?  Or can anyone suggest anything different?

This is a woman you are talking about - if you don't get her something, you won't get anything back!

There is a fine line there, isn't there? (that doesn't look quite right on screen!)

However, it's difficult to stalk someone when you're half a foot taller than everyone else and drive a car that kind of stands out, too!!!

If you've just met her then subtlety is the key. A modest but quality card (don't write anything major or verses in it!!), maybe a posh box of chocolates and I'd say an invite for a drink in a nice spot (or your gaff) would do. Just to say you're sincere and sweet without screaming "I love you and wanna put my babies in your tummy!!!!!"

Thats my tuppence worth, me on the other hand i got roped into spending a fortune in paris last week on shoppin that was to be her pressie, bringing her for dinner to nice restaurant on friday (valentines night mahem doesn't appeal) and have pledged a new pair of boots as well cos she can't be empt handed on the big day!!

Note to self; women weigh everything up in terms of footware and handbags!!

eg W:"how much is that coffe table?"

"its six hundred euro madam.",

W:"christ thats 4 pairs of shoes and a handbag!!"

My former beloved seemed to fear spending her own money, which meant that I was broke all the time!  One of my friends even commented to me yesterday that he had never seen me with cash before the last 6 months!!!

Not going the same route again!!!

KB - that thread is legend!

Skillie - ordered flowers, but avoiding roses!  Feel that something unusual is needed!!!

TJ - wish I had thought of that.  I suppose it's not too late, though.....

No No.....tell her you are really inrto the whole "Pagan" rites ritual of the true valantines meaning and tell her that you will be lighting a huge bonfire at midnight and would like her to join you while you wail pagan love chants and dance around the fire naked......that ought to win her over....
