Jack735 - Thanks for the lead to gcd, but unfortunately they haven't one either. He suggested I try 'findapart' & '247spares', so i've posted a request to them both ...

Anybody else out there with any ideas - or even an engine??

PLEASE..............

Have you looked on S14.de in the for sale section, or emailing Marcus ?
German ebay ? or how about the usual suspects, Bexleys, ETA, Hartlake etc.

How much are you looking to spend?

Have you tried contacting a company called FAB Engineering?  They specialise in BMW Cylinder heads and i think they supply all the big companies such as german swedish and french, ivor sealerls etc.  Their number is 01531 828444 or www.fabautoparts.co.uk I've had a look on their site and they dont list anything, but might still be worth a call....

Thanks bmdevil for the post. Yes I've already spoken to Jason @ FAB, and although he normally passes all his M3's onto Nigel M, there is a possiblity he may be able to help.

OK - decision day Tomorrow - "should she stay or should she go now"?

Couple of engines options - both too much money, but hey, that's life!

SWMBO is nagging me for the return of 'her' (whose??) car!

Just curious, how much is too much money?  It would help to have an idea of your budget.

Cheers,

Jake

Have you investigated the possibility of having the head repaired? I had a 3.8 M5 head repaired that had dropped a valve, and had to have the combustion chamber & valve seat area totally rebuilt as s/hand heads were unobtainable at the time.  I have just finished building an engine for a customer who had nearly the exact experience as you, except his shim wedged under the cam lobe, damaged the £400 shrick cam, holed the piston and ruined the cylinder bore , as well as rendering the head totally scrap.

FYI I bought a spares engine - knackered crank - to rebuild his, and have all of the components left - except head - cam carrier and cams ok, so feel free to pm me a needs list.

I can put you in touch with the company I used to repair the M5 head.

Regards

Phil

Simon,

Why not go down the route Alpina did and put in a 3.5 l big six? I am sure you will find one pretty cheap compared to the S14.

There must be a few people who have done this on the E30 zone who could help.

You could then make a nice coffee table of the S14 for SWMBO to put her coffee on while you are out in her car!

Good luck.
