Does anyone know where I can get new decent wiper blades for my E60?

As with most 'new' cars the wiper blades are now just a length or rubber blade, i.e. they don't have the metal arms that are sprung and apply pressure to the screen.

Halfrauds sell Bosch wiper blades (older type) which are good but can be bought much cheaper from Euro Car Parts.

Halfrauds only sell their own type of rubber blade and this is about £30 for the E60.

Do Bosch make the rubber blade type of wipers and where can I get them from, ECP?

Any help would be great thanks,

Andrew

I've never found wipers to work well on bmws.  My e34s both have wipers that lift above 80mph (in germany...), and all previous 5s and an e32 that i've been in did the same.  Has anyone ever solved it?  Anyone used Wipac?  Rallyers swear by em..

I use RainX on all my windows. Wipers work fine upto 30mph - after that you don't need them

I always fit OE BMW or Bosch (same thing) but for "fussy customers" it often means renewing them every service...

The "AeroTwin" blades are much, much better than the older BMW fitments...

Eddie I must be 'fussy' then!

I want to fit Bosch blades to my E60 becasue cheap blades are cheap for a reason, they are no chuffin' good!

Hmm £35 for Bosch blades from Sporty's link.

Cheers for that guys.

Fitted BMW ones to the car on Saturday.  £39 from main dealer.

Sneaky though, each arm has a small diagonal piece of metal that inserts under part of the blade fixing point which means you can't put the passenger blade on the drivers side as I was trying to do at first. D'uh!

I bet that this also means that the cheaper single blade replacements from small shops won't fit as they wont have this diagonal cut out, so they wont fit.

It was worth the £39 just to stop them squeaking!  And my rain sensor works better now.

Using rainX is fine for the first few days, I find after that it starts squeeking..........that buggers the hell out of me.....so I never touch my windscreen with anything but clean water, and dont polish my roof, this also adds to problem wipers.Bosch are the only wipers that are decent,i.e dont squeek an last longer.

What about these Aerotwin ones?  I've not seen them for E34s, but I'll try anything that keeps my windscreen clear on the motorway.  I recently drove an E90 and the difference was startling.

Anybody else out there tried Wipac or similar silicone blades?

My RainX doesn't squeek - are you using the proper pre-treatment method before applying it?

I've just learn't that my car (e34 540 tourer) has a pressure sensor on the
spindle of the driver's side wiper arm, and that the blade is pushed against
the screen more if the wind starts to lift it. Also told that these sensors do
'give up' and son't just fade with age.
