No one is above the law (unless you are a Government official), so expect to get booked...

If it was a garda (Irish police for those who don't know) car, then it would be covered in dents from all the bad garda drivers and from the little toe-rag joyriders.

...and there are quite a few of those. I bet they all hail from Ballyfermot/Finglas/Ballymun/Clondalkin/Cabra/Drumcondra, etc... *yawn*

I wasn't aware that there was an exemption to the Irish NCT (National Car Test), unless your vehicle was 25 years old or, er, even more elderly....

I believe that Irish polis cars are exempt from the NCT (MOT) - absolutely no idea why!

Probably 'cos there's no hope that any of the Garda cars would pass the NCT

-in the news today- ambulances to be exempt from speeding tickets (incl. gatsos) when blue lights are on.
-forget the jam sandwich, you need your own ambulance!
(nb. I do realise it is illegal to have blue lights affixed to your vehicle- but I also heard of an enterprising motorcycle courier who fixed a small blue flashing light to his jacket. He found riding in heavy traffic being like Moses crossing the Red Sea... until he got pulled on another technicality as the police thought he was taking the wee wee rather....)

Its frightening, but you can have blue lights, according to a police officer on the IAM forum, as long as the fuses are out whilst on the road.
It should just be illegal...simple...no excuses...but even the kids with the blue lights behind the grills cant be touched, according to the same source.

Best Wishes

Unfortunately there seem to be different consesus of opinion when it comes to coloured lights depending on who you talk to. Red lights to the front are a definite no no though. As for MOT, british police vehicles do not require one as 'they are maintained to such a high standard anyway'.
YAWN!

I remember this being discussed before here and IIRC I found that blue lights are allowed but not recommended. However, if you start flashing blue lights then you could be done for impersonating a police officer

Had a dipstick over here on the Island put blue neons on his white Golf. Thought it would be really intelligent to use them flashing when driving behind a marked T5.
He soon discovered the error of his ways....
