ROLL UP! ROLL UP!

This is it, folks: the Sharknose event of the year, courtesy of the Southern Area Coupe Group. Bring your BMW (E24s particularly welcome) along to the historic Brooklands site on 5th September.

Help James "ooh look how many Peugeot 306s I've got" Sohl achieve his ambition (CLICK HERE FOR MORE DETAILS)

Killian: could you put a link to this thread in the Club Events Forum, please?

Cheers Ivan,

We need as much help as possible at publicising this event as the Car club lost my article and consequently the publication deadline was missed. I have been assured that a mention will be made in straight six.  So back to the event. Anyone with a big coupe and or who knows someone who has one please come down. The more people the better.

James

If you're really lucky, it could go in 4 days after....

That's happened before, alright....

And Ivan will be taking the Hartge for a spin so I can get his feedback on how he thinks it handles !!!!!!!

I take it anyone can turn up to this event its not restricted to 6 series cars?

If so I could well wander up to brooklands for it.

When I last spoke with James he was after as many BMW's there as possible to support the Sharknose's. See you there.

Can somebody confirm what time it all kicks off? The Museum opens at 10am.

All cars and people are welcome. The recent upsurge of interest i have had i will be very suprised if i don't get 50 635's down alone. All things being equall there should be around 150 vehicles comming down.

As for starting time it all kicks off at 10am with the BBQ at around midday and prize givings after about 3. This should give enough time for some photo oportunities on the banking at about 4ish.

The only restrction is that only E24's, E31's and E9's may access the banking, paddock and Dunlop Bridge.

What people say, and what people do, may turn out to be two different things. Let's keep an eye on this.....

Hi Everyone,

This is just to remind you all that Brooklands is this weekend. I have finalised all arrangements with the Museum and have 93 tight car parking spaces within the paddock. I also have an overflow for a further 30 cars. Spaces will be alocated on a first come first serve bases.

The plan for the day will be:-

  • Arrive at 10am
  • Time to clean and beautify cars and or go around the Museum untill 12
  • BBQ to start from 12
  • Some Live music during lunch
  • General publics voting of all cars
  • Prize giving for winners cars at around 3pm
  • 4pm photo oportunity on the banking
  • 5pm all  people to leave Brooklands
Couple of little pointers.

  • There is no hoses or water available for cars
  • there is a 15mph speed limit and anyone going above this will be asked to leave
  • The banking is very dangerous and has to be treated with utmost respect both on foot and in cars
  • Anyone not obeying the marshalls may jeapodise future events
The day should run very smoothly, but i need to mention these pointers.

See you all there on Sunday

Kind Regards

James

In other words, get your cars washed and polished before you arrive!

...and check your oil and coolant.....

A BIG  WELL DONE James, a superb meet, I have never seen so many pristine coupes before.  It was great to talk/meet/chat/admire cars and it seemed to flow like clockwork, but heck I am only a low;y E30 owner !!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to Horsetan for the test drive !!!

James,

It was a great day, in a great location, note to self "must go back", and ran like clockwork. Well that's how it appeared from the outside which is always a sign of great organisation.

A great selection of cars and the weather made it a perfect day.

THANK YOU Hopefully you had a few to recover.

Any pictures yet?

Any plans to follow the US lead and take Sharkfest on tour?  Somewhere a bit less South and a bit more North?
