Just when you thought the new M3 V8 was cool, Alpina was doing it 10 years ago It's essentially the same 4.6 V8 they put in the 5 series B10 but with a bit of sump modification which loses a few bhp in the process, taking it down to 333. The motor starts life as a 4.4 (from the 840/740/540) and is uprated with lighter pistons, a different cam etc etc. Edited by Chas C |

OMG! Definately kleenex material ! I looked into stickin a V8 in an e36 before I tackled the touring...kind of a cheaper, poorer cousin of the B8. V8's are the best in my opinion, that's why I love the US. As soon as you step off the plane you hear the rumble straight away even the baggage handlers trucks are V8's.
