Tulip Rally

Date:27th March
Venue: Clifton Moor Retail Park
Start : Macdonalds / Toys R us carpark
Time : 9.00 to 9.30
Organisers : MG Car Club

If you want to take part, contact David on 07730 852 906 as soon as possible. or me on 01484 844920. Its not a speed event, but a challenge of navigation, working out which squiggle on your map is the one on your task sheet. Should take about 4 hours to complete. One with the nearest distance to the organiser's distance wins. A few clues to answer in case there is a tie. Always a popular event, but this time we are the guests of the MG Car Club, so be on your best behaviour.

Tomorrow night then.
Thought we may have Our Chris' trackday E21 fettled but I'm not risking it with no MOT and I shant have time to get it done.
How will we recognise one another.. I know Stu has some flourescent fur on his crash helmet?
Is 'Oward coming to oversee proceedings?
I'll bring some Croft'05 stuff in case anyone fancies it.

I'll leave the fury pink mohecan at home, but I will be wearing BMW merchandise and the landlord has told me he'll separate an area for us.

See you all tomorrow.

Well, the first Vale of York & Humber meeting was attended by 21 people, a fantastic turnout.  Thanks to all of you for making it, it was really nice to meet you all, even if I didn't get to spend much time with you all individually.  There's always next time.

Furthest travelled was G-Man (Giles) from Grimsby, just pipping Howard, with most travelling 30-40 miles from all around the region.  Shortest was my lazy self, so what we've agreed to do is when we plan runs out, we'll change the start/end so we can all do something close to home - don't forget I need some good locations for us to head to please.

Thanks also for letting me have the information, which I'll try and use in planning a few events in the future.  Seems there's a few common things we all enjoy, so I'll work on trying to organise some of those first.

Thanks as well for those that volunteered to assist in the group.  Help always makes keeping the momentum going that much easier.

Future meetings will be on the last Tuesday of each month, though we'll vary the dates of events dependent on the destination and type of event, so some will obviously be on weekends.  We'll try and put some dates together soon.

More to follow.

Thanks again all.

Stu

Was home in an hour, so not too bad. Managed to get lost again trying to get out of Howden. Got out more by accident than anything!

Was good to meet a few guys, especially the BMW Specialist chaps from Hessle... we'll have to see if they can cure my niggling problems I have with my Sport. Hope so!

See you again soon!

Giles.

yes.. I agree, that was a splendid meeting, well attended and very well organised.. I saw people tonight that I haven't seen since I used to do the odd foreigner into Drivers Club territory.

Well done Stu, see you at the next one.

Sounds like a great meet.... well done Stu. Wish I could have made it down, but I didn't finish work until quite late and from Newcastle it's quite a trip...

Well done! Hope to make the next one.....

Thanks for the comments guys.  It's definitely worth it when people make the effort to turn out and enjoy themselves.

I couldn't believe it when a chap I knew in my RAF days turned up as well, but I was well disguised with longer hair & beard.

All welcome next time of course.

You're not kidding Zeemax, Stu was right, the portions are huge!
It's the first time I've left more than I ate and was totally stuffed!
By the way Stu, the mixed grill was excellent, I ordered the 12oz,
the smallest on the menu, it went up to 48oz! I said to the barman
'Has anyone ever ordered that' he said 'Yes, it nearly broke the
waitresses arm taking it to the table' I said 'Did they finish it?'
He said 'No, that's impossible' then looked at me as if to say
'did you really just say that?!' Anyway, yes, thumbs up for the food,
I made a right Piggy of myself!

I'd just like to say that the guy's from Hessle (Autologic) did a great
repairing the heater control unit (a common fault on the E36 aircon, so I'm told) on my car as well as replacing my micro filter. Both were done at very competitive rates and with swift efficient service, I'd definatley recommend them if you live in the area, or if you know someone else who does. (By the way, if you get to read this, nice Alpina! I should of followed you out of Howden, I got lost too , and no doubt you have sat nav in that, not trying to say you don't know where you're going!

One last thing, was nice to meet the people who I did get chance to speak to, hope to see you all at the next meeting. All a very friendly bunch!

Cheers,

Tim.

Appologies for above text, my pc has been crashing all evening, it's taken me a mere 2 hours to get my say on here, I had to save it into notepad in the end as everytime I posted it the browser would refresh and lose the text, sorry if it makes no sense!

Stu, I'd be up for a drive out, how about you lot??? Bit quiet in here lately, I'd have thought after such a good turnout at the Barnes Wallace on the 29th this forum would be blazing!! I'll have to get my finger out, looks like a couple of you would like a good cruising CD! I hope you don't mind a bit of trance!! Looking forward to the 26th already.

Pma, sorry I haven't got back to you before now, could have gone out Sat night! Been staying at my girlfriends and I don't have internet access there, I'll PM you my number, and if you get it in time for tomorrow night, I'd still be up for a few beers.

beerchug

Hope this forum picks up a bit soon, will check back tomorrow!!
