Great day, lowish turnout, but the quality was there!

Adrian won the economy run, My co-pilot won the treasure hunt (and got us lost once which cost us the economy trophy )and an E46 M3 was the closest of the 30mph speed average, great nerve control!

All in all, great fun and nice day out by the country side.

My exhaust is still in the car but we did see one on the road, from a freelander!

A good day was had by all, I think and it was great to see some new faces as well as club regulars.  As usual, the friendly and social aspect of the event was just as important as the cars themselves.

Will post up a short report with results and some piccies during the day.

Thanks to those that made it on the day and special thanks to Ger O'Connor for all the work in preparing the routes, maps and treasure hunt clues.

Thankfully the weather didn't prove to be much of a hinderence and its seems there was sufficient challenge in following the route notes and keeping up with the treasure hunt clues for people to enjoy it!

Yeah, a good day was had by all, and the weather was actually alot better than expected. I did take the whole economy thing to the extreme though, and maybe next time it would be better to have just a treasure hunt on its own, as we were focusing too much on the route and economy and not enough on the clues. I suggested to Ger that next time we could go out in groups and try and solve clues which involved getting out of the car more and rooting around in old grannies gardens for clues just like Anneka Rice.

It was great to put faces to the names on the forum and I think everyone got on well. Fair dues to Ger and Diarmuid for co-ordinating the event because alot of time went into driving the route (twice) and doing clues etc. Thanks a mil. guys. And Jimboh, it was good to meet one of my neighbours.

Roll on the show and shine event in June.

I have to say Ludo, your machine is much more economical than I thought. I guess it all comes down to how much pressure we put on the loud pedal. Congrats to your lady on her clue solving. I'm sure she will be only too happy to clean your car every weekend now that she has been given the appropriate BMW cosmetics.

I did a respectable 33.7m/gallon (or 8.4L/100km). Would have done a bit better if:

1) I didn't start in a way that allow me to catch you back after 5 miles (starting 2mins behind)

2) had keep my cool while my so call co-pilot misinterpret a direction leading us to drive an extra 6km of very fast road driving!

I am sure she will...not!

The details on the BMW kit is nice, the bag has velcro underit so it doesn't move un the boot!

I think the first half of the trip was the hardest on economy because the road were narrow and up and down so the engine struggled more. I reckon I got close to 50mpg on the return journey but maybe 30 or so on the outward journey. I think i'd prefer a car treasure hunt with no emphasis on economy because then you could just concentrate on the clues, and maybe if we had at least 3 people per car, and some of the clues involved running, or looking for clues outside of the car. What do you think ?.

Divorce only, and not murder, is not such a bad outcome in the circumstances!

From left to right I think is James Braddish, Andrew Kett, Ludo & future Mrs Ludo, David Casey (my brother in law), Me.

I actually only went slightly off course once which added about 2 miles so I reckon I covered 80 miles and not 84. I think since I changed my wheels last year my calibration/odometer is marginally out. It was noticeable as my co-pilot pointed it out regularly.

Dont worry OPEC, I dont drive like Ms. Daisy and to be honest, keeping that level of economy is painful.
