I was passengering in it Eamo. And from there it wasn't a bad bus at all! It felt a fairly honest car out there. It was actually my first time ever in an E36 M3, and I found it interesting comparing it with the 328 with the AC Schnitzer setup. You don't really feel the extra power of the non-Evo lump until after 5,000rpm. But it revved keenly @ the top end, stopped straight and strong, and the bushes/shocks still felt in reasonable nick from the passenger seat: twas a good-value buy for him!

It was and i'm fully happy with it, fair play for pointing out the couple of little things that needed doing too.. i didnt really push it till yerterday, but when i did it was all there, solid as a rock and well capable.

Cheers to the organisers for sorting the session out, it was a top day!

Ps. that 959 is a re modelled 993 twin turbo and belongs to jason from kellys car centre..

On the subject of the guy with the sheep equipped e30 and his frequent sideways action... I was at the pit when the very close spin happened, he was fully messing around, but i think the guy behind him to be fair had a genuine off.. what i thought was odd though was the majority of the pit lane rushing over to trackside to clap in admiration.

Re: 959: Oh no!! I'm gutted. I saw my first 959 only last June in Italy in a showroom. So I was buzzing at having seen one in the flesh on home turf and on track. Feck anyway.

It wasnt admiration, it was rejoicing at the fact that those who had been clearly acting like d*cks all day had just a very close call, from which hopefully a lesson was learned - athough I fear it will take the real deal to really sort out people like that.

I don't think it'd sort them out - they regard the car as disposable, and confuse driving ability with sawing at a wheel in every direction until they spin. Lucky they didn't collect someone in the process.

I'm very anti-elitism at these trackday gigs, and think anyone driving anything (BMW) should be out and pushing themselves and their cars, whether they pay-on-the-day or pre-book. That's the point, and sometimes it involves spinning as you learn. But within reason. And coming out of Dunlops on a slow half-slide, then trying to negotiate some invisible bends and spinning on the straight, isn't better driving; it's being a tool, regardless of the entertainment value for the pit wall viewers. They should have been black flagged and it requires more policing by Mondello. They should be able to discriminate between someone keeping a decent line and speed, and spinning simply by overcooking it, from someone who is just reckless and not caring.

Rant over. Roll on BDD '06!

Was the one with the sheep the same one that had the insulation tape crosses over the front light, the same one that came on the trailer pulled by the red mitsubishi (I think) (that BMW had been in a shed until Saturday since the last track day acording to its owner, hence the layers of dust on it), or both?

Not too many cars had taped lights.. Mine was one, the black e30 325 with the red buckets in it. Came on a trailer that was being towed by a white mark 5 golf tdi. Had no sheep or any farm animals hanging from the back of that, so i presume you are not mistaking me for him....???

Good to finally put a few faces to the names yesterday too. Was talking to two lads in the pub in Prosperous, 1 of which i think was ludo (guessing from the french accent), the other guy was driving the black 5 series with the tinted windows. Sound fellas altogether..

GStanley - which group were you in?  If it was the pinks, did you spin off behind the black e39 on the first session, just after the second corner where you can drive in the back gate to the paddock?

Missed the quality BBQ - had to make do with Dunnes chicken and salads!

@Fey; ya that was my car alright. EoinO was driving it that session, i was out in the black e30 318is that was behind him that put the hazards on...

He found it hard to hold the car on that corner at the start, it was our first outing in the track car, and we had no feeling for what it was like. Was probably bound to happen on the first corner on the first session... He got the hang of it fast and was setting some nice times in it, until the fuel pump started acting up..

The reason I asked was because I wasn't sure if I had done anything to cause him to react and go off  - it was at the very nervous stage of the day!

The only solution to this is to have all cars taxed, insuranced and NCT(if required) compliant unless it is a dedicated track car that has all the safety devices fitted is one way of ensuring some safer driving maybe. I think it was Brendan's suggestion(correct me if wrong) that no new members on the day, but I would not agree with pre-pay as some people might not be able to commit till closer to the event itself

Since Mondello are cutting back on the quality of staff I heard that this is what they are employing for the next BDD day to take care of anybody messing out on the track

Gutted to have missed the day lads, sounds like ye all had a blast. Was looking forward to catching the porkers in action aswell.

I left my car in to have the tracking done on Satturday morning, only for the dude to snap one of the nuts clean off the rear control arm.....beautiful  ah, well, needed to sort out some suspension components anyway, so full steam ahead with the mods.

Whaen's the next day?, i've seen March mentioned!
