    Posted: 04-March-2003 at 14:13

Owner of a 1999 E36 318ti Compact.

Have found the convenient closure very useful when I turn the key to lock the car and hold in place it shuts the windows and sunroof.  I can't seem to manage to get the remote alarm to do this though.  Is this possible?  Is it something my dealer can easily do or is there a combination of button presses I need to know?

My alarm fob is not part of the key, it is a seperate little box (BMW).

Thanks in advance.

I think it's a dealer prog option. Give tham a ring and ask how much to reconfigure your alarm.

hi hi

Its not possible I have a bmw compact too and the box style remote; I asked them about it and my edinburgh easten gargae say its can't be done (maybe your bmw garage say something else).

What they have been able to do is re-programme my alarm to flash the indicators once when you turn the car off and open the door and when you shut the door it flashes twice.

Thats all my dealer could do with it for added functions but no remote closure

ohh my compact...

Thanks to you both for your replies.

Doesn't sound hopeful then does it Chris!  I will ask at the next service as you suggest but I don't expect a different answer to the one you got.

I can't seem to access your pic at the moment.

I just had my first experience of BMW prices when I enquired about getting a spare key - dealer said to get key and reprogramme it would be £60-70!

Still, I love the car...

hi hi

Yes you can always ask... the alarm does do some other little cool functions like i metioned above with the indicators and make beeping noises to lock and unlock which the dealer can do for you; but pitty not the closure system from the remote was my response from the dealer....

YOu have to take the link copy it and paste it manually on the web address for it to work la......

I think the forum doesn't let you open it from the forum....

Anyway for more photos look at the post i started on the scottish forum about my dakar yellow compact la...

Ps: how long you had your compact for...done many mods to it?

Takie care

Chrissss

Yeah, I'll see what dealer says.  It already bleeps and does the indicators when I arm it which is nice.

Only had the Compact for 1 month so no mods yet!  It's black and I'm picking up a set of alloys soon.  It has full blue leather interior which was a real selling point.

Yours looks real nice!
