My car just died this morning as if I'd run out of petrol. The engine turns over nicely but it's not starting. The AA came out and towed me home - the mech. said that it was my fuel pump.

I've removed the fuel pump and checked it  and it's working fine. Has anyone experienced this problem ? I'm trying to trace the fuel line to the engine but to be honest I don't recognise a lot under the bonnet - it's not like my old Cortina !! Can anyone point me in the right direction, i.e. where specifically can I disconnect the fuel line under the bonnet to check if I've got a supply ?

Yes, I've checked the fuel pump fuse etc... and the pump is working. (I've taken the fuel line off at the pump in the boot of the car and made sure it was powered up and functioning).

when you say it is functioning is it pumping fuel out or is it just whirring?? as the pump may be whirring but internally not pumping the fuel properly

just a thought
