Can anyone help....just bought a 528i 1987...is a good solid car and I am happy with my purchase, but the tyres (metric) cost an arm and a leg to replace. Do most people get new wheels and throw them on to save money, or do people grin and bear the £200 a corner price tag?!

Is that £426 for a full set of new tyres for myself?

And if so, where from?

I also own a 528i (1986) but was fortunate to have a set of alessio 5 spoke 16" rims, which came with the car when I bought it. They could be coming up for sale soon, as I am putting a set of 17" wheels on soon, if all goes well. The tyres set me back £60.00 fitted each. Pictures of my car will soon be put on site as I have finally got my computer working!

I spent £180 on two Avon zz3's for the back of my '92 525I sport (225/60/15) and am very happy with them.  I was shocked at how easily I could loose the back end in the wet when I got the car but the Avons have totally sorted that.  I never before really appreciated what difference a decent set of tyres can do.

I junked my metrics from my 528i years ago and replaced them with 15" cross-spokes from an E34.  Not only can metrics be difficult to find and expensive when you do find them, but the tyre technology is over 20 years old now.
