Hello,

Any of ya know how much I would be looking, at having a head rebuilt on a e34 535i?

Using standard parts, also would it be worth having the head ported and maybe a better cam put in aswell or not?

cheers

BENN

Hi Benn,

A re-conned head for my 1989 (SOHC 12 valver) was £900.  If yours is DOHC (24 valver) then add some.  I decided that my problem would die with the car!

Oh, and that £900 was guaranteed flat (Not just skimmed - but flattened, then skimmed)

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You were ripped mate.

It's a full days work for a competant mechanic.  The Gasket set is £100 tops, if you get gen. parts.  8 hours at £30 is 240, plus 100...call it 400 sovs with consumables.  And that's a generous offer.  Did you go to a main stealer? That would explain the > 150% margin on his costs.
