How many Gears/torque converter lock ups

   I have a E39 523i SE with a Steptronic Auto box.  I was wondering if anyone out can confirm to me how many gears and torque converter lock ups there are in the steptronic auto box coupled to my 6 pots?
I haven't been able to drive it enough to count the changes and some are sooooo slight and smooth I miss them when I am concentrating on driving.
I know that there are 5 gears and a torque converter lock up in the 5th gear but is there also a torque converter lock up in 4th too?
My last car was a 4 speed auto with torque converter lock ups in 3rd and 4th gears giving effectively 6 speeds, you could count 5 changes.
Any thoughts?
