Hi...I am aware of the problems of overheating but can someone
tell me what the consequences of over cooling are? (Car in the blue all the time).

Thanks

If your engine is running cool all of the time your fuel consumption will be very high and your engine will wear much quicker than if it was running at the correct temperature....Over cooling is normally caused by a faulty thermostat (stuck open)

It never actually goes in the blue-never below a quarter and never above a half but its near the blue...whats that all about then! And does it need fixing?

Thanks

The temperature gauge should really sit dead centre most of the time so I would recommend getting it looked at.

Just replace the thermostat.

It will rise if you drive hard or sit in traffic.

Over cooling normally means your Stat is locked open.

When I got my E28 it was over cooling, I later found that the last owner removed it totally. I replaced it and have never touched the cooling system since.
