Yes, yes, I did look through the old topics before posting this, so if I missed the answers then ......... tough!

My (non-CAT) car needs a new rear exhaust section, but before I spend my hard earned cash I need to be sure of what to buy!

The rear section - same for both CAT & non-CAT I'm told - comprises two boxes. A little one mid section, and the tailbox. This is no longer available as one piece from a dealer, but is available as two pieces, plus a special connecting pipe (makes sense, huh?)

I am told - by an (un)reliable source that the 318is came originally with twin tail pipes, but all the evidence here and the dealer says otherwise.

So, as I want my 318is to continue to look standard (I've got a thing about that, haven't I?), what I want to know is....

1/ Twin or single?
2/ Whose system do I buy?

thanks all.........

The 318iS only ever came with a single tail pipe, your (un)reliable source is wrong...

I’ve recently had a stainless steel powerflow exhaust made for my iS, replaced the two rear boxes with one larger box, plus my choice of tail pipe. Cost me £190 all in...

the rear exhaust has only ever been available in two sections, you always need to weld the two halves together.

Try Ferman Swedish & French, they used to list a OE rear box for £99 i think.

Someone left a note on my windscreen. It read 'Parking Fine' that was nice

The rear section is now only available in two sections from the dealer - with another special bit to join it together.
It is available in one piece from other suppliers - except the one I got had been "updated"(!) so the little front box was now too big, and fouled the chassis - doh!
An alternative, alternative has being sourced and hopefully will be fitted this weekend!!

(p.s. thanks for the help on this - and i've bought the proper BMW Black end cover as well, so it will still look cool!!)

OK the After-Market rear section has been fitted, and with BMW tail pipe cover who can tell the difference?
(apart from it only cost me £105 fitted!!)

Brum brum - off we go (quietly!)
