I'm a sucker for those rims, by far the best looking wheels for the M3 IMO, nice car BTW, as are all of what i've seen on this forum

Thanks for that Toby.  Think I'll go 225/45 both ends in that case, I'd rather having it look a little bit stretched than rub the arches.

Tim

Not sure if you can see from this picture, 9" wheel, the 225 is a little narrow and the edge curves in slightly.

I think it is hard to keep the rolling circumference the same when using a 245`s on the rear. A 45 profile is closest and it`s better to go slightly bigger than smaller.

On my old car I fitted 225 *45`s after ditching the 245`s and it looked fine, I was concerned how they would look on a 9inch rim(stretched!) but it didn`t look bad at all.

Nice car by the way

Having finally had some daylight to get to know my new M3 I've discovered the BBS split rims are at the front 8Jx16 on 225/45 tyres and at the rear 9Jx16 on 245/45 tyres.

The fronts are correctly sized, but obviously a 45 profile on a 245 section rear tyre is not. When giving it some beans on a back road I could hear the rears rubbing slightly. I'm not sure if this is a function of the too high profile, or the width, or both.

Can anyone tell me what the ideal size for 9Jx16 rims is? I suspect 225 will be too narrow for a 9J rim?

You can see from this pic the rear profile is too high.
