Hi all

Spotted this beastie on Findit for 2995.

It's at a dealer in East Ham, London.

It's a rare manual model and it appears that the interior has lots of yellow
also(!) Those wheels sure are big!

It's certainly different - anyone recognise it?

Nick

I once looked at a E34 530i which had been painted yellow (over the factory green). The guy though hadn't painted the metal inside though and when you opened the doors you saw the green sills (ugh!).
As for the kit he put on...

If you took off the nasty seat covers and oversized wheels and put on original ones instead it'd actually look pretty cool in a retro 70s kind of way.

Yes.

That's a 628, not a 635. Look at that front airdam. It's so short, it's a front valence rather than an airdam.

It's not the only yellow Six around either. There's one up here in North West London, and that's a proper 635 on a "D"-plate. The owner is of, errm, Jamaican origin...

...which may also explain a LOT about the 628 you've found... Could someone from this Forum volunteer to find out whether the car has ever been smoked in, and if so, whether the smoke was of the intense, herbal kind?

...oh God, I feel a rendition of "Smiley Culture" coming on....

...and maybe a black vinyl roof? Rear windscreen plastic "slats"?

Maybe a furry dice or two?

I remember seeing a bright (I mean very very bright) yellow Volvo 740 in Middlesbrough a few years ago, blacked out windows, black spoiler on boot, black alloy wheels as well IIRC. Actually looked quite good (In a bright, Sun God Ra sort of way)..

....and a green sunstrip across the top of the windscreen, reading "KEV" and "SHARON"....

...plus, mingling with the aforementioned furry dice, an air freshener strip labelled "Feu Orange"....

I'm not totally sure, but that might possibly be the most horrible 6 I've ever seen. It's certainly a close run battle with the lovely bodykitted 628 that was on Ebay late last year.

To think, someone has actually spent good money making it look like that. And, if I hadn't read this, I might actually have believed the badges that it was a real M6.

Sad thing is, it actually looks like it's a tidy car, just need to throw the interior and the Max Power wheels away, and save up for a respray!!

The alloys look very similar to the Rondell design....

"Deep dish" wheels do suit a Six, but my own view is that the design of spoke can totally ruin the look. I'm not a fan of cross-spokes either as they're murder to keep clean.

I purchased the monster, and am looking for anybody in the area who can help me find out the original specs for the car. BMW have no records, and until my club membership is processed I am at a loss. I would also like to find somewhere local (who won't rip me off) to do any work on the car and keep it maintained.

The last seven digits of the VIN  entered here:-

http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi

will give you the basic build details.

A dealer will be able to give you full build details including options etc. from the same information.  They are also able to tell you details of any work done on the car or rather ates when the car has been in the dealer network.

I think it looks quite good actually.

I have tried posting the nimber on the site posted, also on the carfax website. Each time I get an invalid VIN number. The number on plate is WBAEC7208C8175005.  the only information the dealer can give me is  MODEL, BUILD DATE, REG DATE, COLOUR, UPHOLSTERY, & AIR CON. neither the dealer or BMW can give me the original engine number (I would like to see if I still have the original). I also believe the car has been converted to manual due to a second linkage cable being present on the accelerator bracket, and the only thing that comes to mind is a kickdown cable.
