Yes, i suggest we meet in Banff at around 12:30pm, then proceed to take a spirited run along some quiet back roads ending up at the scenic cullen bay hotel for refreshments between 1:15 and 2:00pm where there is ample car parking space and the opportunity for taking photographs in the surrounding village of Cullen.

or alternatively, there are some really good driving roads surrounding Elgin, and the local Brewsters is always on hand for food and drink

If you want to save Mr Perry some petrol money, suggest somewhere between Aberdeen and Elgin on the A96.  The Rowardennan Inn (Inverurie bypass) is worth consideration...

Looks like I got the name wrong, should have said the Ardennan House Hotel, Kemnay Road, Inverurie.

It's on the West side of the bypass, and south of the River Don. If you don't know the points of a compass -edited comment-, it's on the other side of the bypass from Port Elphinstone.

Only been there once but it has parking space and the food was reasonable.

Mell, if you live near Ellon, why do cross the Dee from the south in the mornings...?
