Hi Mark,

You could buy the silver sharknose off ebay and make one really good car out of the two.

getting your box rebuilt will cost mucho £££££ and make you cry like a new born baby.

Bad boy Hiab,

Get back to your cage at once, and write 500 lines "E23's are cool 80's classics"

Mark,
I agree with Philip, buy an old scrapper, and swap the boxes out.

The gearbox is *******, and a flush will not help it.
It's probably a ********* valve block or more likely, a
faulty forward clutch pack. Fitting a 4HP22 involves
the drive plate, propshaft and gear selector but it's
not a bad mod. A rebuild will be £1000.
Why not just buy another running MOT'd E23? £350
should do the trick, and there are 2 or 3 about at the
moment. You'll struggle to find a good 3 speed
autobox now and you've admitted that the car has
lots of problems and rust.

For what its worth I agree with Andyboy. there are some good Series II 735i SE & Executive E23's for sale at very low prices at the moment. look out for a B, C or D regd car as they are fully loaded.

When the auto box dies its time to call it a day, and look for another car.

let us know what you decide to do Mark.

Try this bloke Mark

http://www.mescript.com/bmw/bmw_e23_parts.htm

He's got an Autobox for fifty quid, don't know if it's correct for your car though. Don't give up just yet.

If you've got it, a lorry brought it.

Or how about this one. Don't let the vultures start picking lumps off your car yet mate, we all know how you love it.

When BMW 1066 frags his turd i want the chrome arches , i think they'd look spectacular on my whirlpool 745i. Is it true they don't fit properly unless your arches are rotten?.

I didn't realise what a cruel lot of so and so's you can be. The lad really loves his car, so how about helping him rather that kicking him while he's down, isn't that the essence of a club/forum?
