Topic: The North East forums really taking off! Posted: 01-March-2005 at 12:45 |
You are right about this forum being busy all of a sudden.. it used to be one of the quietest.. in fact all the regional discussion forums are usually not as busy as the car based ones.
Initially, the regional forums were put in place to replace the local newsletters we used to mail out to club members.
Historically the N/E section of the club was based around the main towns of Yorkshire.. thats where we (the committee) were all from and we had very little input from the real north east..
Nowadays it seems as if everyone in here is from Nercassel and us Tykes are getting outnumbered!
Don't forget that the North East Region hosts the Clubs annual track event at Croft every July... which is always full of soft southerners! I only get and handful of our own N/E guys and its on our doorstep.
If any of you would be interested in coming along send me a PM with your e-mail and I will send you all the documents to read.
Regards
Nick

Please don't lose the literal fact of my post - that I said any anti-new-BMW-owner postings were generally "isolated".
As I said, it's a great forum with great people from what I have seen so far and I'm looking forward to shaking hands with a few and enjoying some decent meets and trips out.
Can someone answer my question on the Coast Route Thread though?
It's the pinned topic.

I'm not sure if that is good or bad for you all!
I would love to think it was my magnetic personality....but fear it probably isn't!
Controversial opinions? Well I always like a few of those as long as they're not just for the sake of argument, but I do like to stand my corner!
I'm thoroughly enjoying this forum too I have to say.
Proper, knowledgeable, mature, controlled (mostly!) and informative discussion with people who'll give you an honest opinion and share (mostly!) a similar love of their cars.
I sometimes feel a bit of anti-new-BMW coming through but perhaps that is what has increased the posting amounts so much - so it can't be such a bad thing after all! It's isolated too, I know.
Of real note though is the fact that the forums seem to have a proper community feel and organised meets - so few others seem to do this, or at least with any regularity. |

The site I came from was much busier than this and the others mentioned there. So busy you couldn't keep pace if you missed a day. Hundreds and hundreds of posts every day.
I won't give it a mention though because I don't think it deserves it!
Besides, they had a very anti-BMW bias in my opinion (lots of Audi drivers).

the only forums i know busier than this are the e30zone and volkszone. they are both chokka all the time and you can get lightning fast responses most of the time.the e3zone polices itself alot too, which is good to see as the mods are very busy given the size and regularity of posts.

I did bring a few with me - from another forum that I had personally become a little dis-enchanted with because of very personal attacks on people that were allowed to go unmoderated.
This forum on the other hand seems to have a very good balance - and credit to all those long standing users for enabling it to do so.
The spirit, essence and culture of help with this site is exceptional too.
Top job.

You're right Andy. The total number of posts has leapt in recent weeks - mainly down to the other two on this topic.
Grahame - did you keep your 7 or did you have to let it go?
