I have a 95 520sei 24v 103k full service etc ..

I bought it aprox 6 months ago , not long after i was sat at lights when i noticed the idol was bliping from 1600 to 2000 up down up down etc ,I pulled away and all was well again untill now it just done it again !

I have oiled and checked the throtle linkage,checked the air system for leaks as best i could , its not long had an air filter,and the pedal is all clear and free, any ideas ?

i beleive there is an idle air control solenoid on the side of the throttle body. it controls the air flow into the engine during idel. you may be able to remedy your problem if you pull it off and clean it up
