Also, have you tried another insurance company. The e30 is STILL not recognised as a classic by many companies and so they quote ridiculous premiums ("it is a 2.5 bmw sir!") and cover it at what they consider to be the market value.

Try Livingstones in the back of the club mag. I got quotes for my 325i convertible from many did as above. Livingstones did not. I pay £175 a year fully comp. I am 40 however and it is a 1500 mile policy but they did not quibble over the £4k value and my no claims is on the five series. All they asked for was to see some jpegs which was no problem.

In my opinion definitly worth a lot more than £1400!!

On e30 forum too:

Please help me , i need to demonstrate to the insurance that my 325i sport is worth more than the jokers at the insurance are saying.(1400)

The car has full BMW history, Black Recaro leather ans is 100% standard.

Ive had a minor bump in it see pics, damaging front left wing and bonnet estimate is around 900.

Do i remember that some guy will value cars based on pics for aroung £25?

Any help would be great, before and after pics:
