Topic: Head Units Posted: 22-February-2005 at 15:30 |
Looking for a bit of advice, after a new head unit for the zed that plays CD Rw and mp3's i've narrowed it down to 2 particular head units, one Sony and the other Alpine, both round the £250 mark. purely from a sound quality point of view which of the 2 would you choose and why. any advice appriciated si |

I have the Alpine 9812rb (4x60w, silver with blue buttons and display)cost me £340 when i bought (about a year ago) not sure if it's the one your talking about if it is i highly recommend it as the sound quality is superb and it also all the functions you need.

alpine CDA 9812RR red buttons or active black sony CDX M8800 looks wise the Alpine is a bit fussy, whilst i'm not really in to in-car graphics the active black panel is fairly neat and blends in .however unit with the best sound quality will clinch it in the end. |

bit slow on the uptake there think the speakers are of pretty good standard but the head unit will make enough of an improvment for me |

popped in to halfrauds to compare both units and the alpine has the more crisper cleaner sound whilst the sony distorts more at high volume. even though pete thinks it's gay i still like the look of the sony. can't believe they want and extra £150 for the alpine compared to internet sites. so it's the alpine i think, any more suggestions?
