Found these 2 undocumented features on the US roadfly (roadkill) web site...going to try out the 1st tomorrow! Skip
1. With the shifter in park play with the gas pedal to see at what foot position the car revs to around 4400 RPM (Should be about 3/4th of the way). Try this a few times to remember the position.
Now when you are running the 0-60 don't mash the gas pedal all the way down. Mash it to where you remember the position was (You may not see the same RPM when the Vehicle is motion) and hold it there for second (or half a second) then mash the pedal all the way down. That will give you the best run.
This launch control is specific to the E31 with Automatics only. Disregard if you have a 6 Speed.
2.
driving your 8 on Snow/ice.
Push & hold the ASC (or DSC for others) button in until the light in the instrument cluster goes off (about 10 seconds). This will turn off just the engine throttle part but the ABS still will kick in to apply pressure to the slipping drive wheel(s). Similar to a limited slip differential...but it's done "electronically" with your brakes instead of the diff. ;-)
The system will stay in this mode and won't go back into "default" mode (DSC/ASC+T ON) until you restart the car (turn it off, then back on again).
