to be fair to them a lot of other european countries make you take your shoes off and belts now.

Was spoeaking to a guy who works on security checks there, he said part of the big problem was people turning up too early and then having to hang round for ages on the other side!

anyway back to topic i hope you like it lads

To also be fair to them, the large delays are caused not by the security checks themselves, but by the muppetry of the vast majority of people, generally once or twice a year type travellers, who go through the checks.

Why people, standing in a queue, watching everyone go through the typical checks (belts off, shoes off, jackets off, no change in pockets, laptops out of cases etc) must wait UNTIL they are standing at the machine before doing any of that stuff frustrates the balls out of me.   I tend to do a lot of travelling (this year especially - been through dublin airport approx 15 times already) and this gets extremely frustrating.

OTOH, the baggage handling is the worst of any "1st world" airport I think I have been through.

My brother flies from Dusseldorf to Galway via Dublin for work, and his baggage gets lost in Dublin around 30% of the time!

@ ///M3 - I hear ya. been doing a fair bit myself, & feel like throttling some folk. Like in Heathrow 2 weeks ago, a huge bunch of wimmen literally elbowed their way to the top of the queue to get on (the arrogance of them blew me away, and no excuses or apologies - just "we're going to the top of the queue").

We get delayed for about 5 mins, then when they finally start to board, they have to look in their bags for their ticket, and "oh you need a passport too" and then into that bag. Then of course they need to go down the ramp as a coordinated unit, so the ones through wait for the ones delaying... everyone was fit to nut them.

When we got on board the stewardesses & Captain were on to tell them basically that if they didn't pull their finger out and get out of the aisle & let passengers through, we wouldn't make the takeoff slot. I'd never heard the like of it before! Twas funny except it was gone 11pm after a 17hr day, the plane had been delayed by over and hour @ that stage, & I just wanted to get home  (hear those violins?)

It was a great trip, not a car shaped wine gum left on any stand after topazman and mackeroo had finished!  The numbers of kids they claimed to have (and were collecting stuff for) grew progressively as the show progressed!

Fey, start booking your days off now for the next one!

Now: BMW 523i SE '00, 318i SE - e91 '07, 325i Coupe '93.

Prev:
e46 328i SE Touring, 330Ci, 318Ci.
e39 523i SE.
e36 325i Coupe *2, 323i SE, 316iSE.
e30 325iSE 2dr, 320i Conv, 320i 2dr, 316i.
