No... the 318iS was never called a Sport, in the same way the 320iS was never called a Sport, though was based on a 325i Sport shell, so had the black headlining as standard... confused now?

Not all 318iS's came with LSD or black headlining as standard... mine didn't come with either when I bought it. No check control, no OBC, no map reading lights... but they ALL came with Sports seats and Mtech suspension...

Almost as confusing as the 325i Motorsports... but let's not get into that!

Giles.

Again, I think if you wanted anthracite headlining and was willing to pay for it, you could have it, there's quite a few 318is's out there with it too as Chris says (Mark R's has got it).

The ETK even lists anthracite headlining for the touring.

was it only the sport that had the black headlining or was that an option on other e30 models also?,mine has it anyway, plus the map lights in the rear view mirror and its down as a sport on the vehicle cert.also had it data checked and its down as a sport.

Sorry to hear it turned out to be a dog...

But just for info... my first Sport (an '87 model 10 years ago!) didn't have power steering. It was quite an unusual one as it was 'originally' Diamond Black with a tan interior... looked really nice.

Anyway, hope you find a decent one soon...

Giles.

I reasonably convinced it was a genuine sport. However, my mate spotted something I didn't which was that the rear pillars changed shade ever so slightly about 6" down from the roof on each side, so infact it might have been TWO sports.

Bargain, two for the price of one.

Bit hacked off with the whole thing really as it was a complete waste of a whole day. Think I'll just get hold of a close ratio 'box and slippy diff for my boggo 325i and be done with it!

Was it a genuine sport?

it really hacks me off when cars are mis-described. I viewed many e30 convertibles but one "immaculate" car which was far from so with "a slight rip in the hood", sticks in my mind. Okay the hood had a slight tear but he ommited to mention that his dog had eaten the entire bolster on one of the leather front seats! I'd fought my way along the south coast on the day of the london to brighton mini run for that one.

Many thanks again for your input guys!

Unfortunately, the car which was described as having "Just literally a couple of spots of rust on the rear arches" and "you'd have to really look to find any other rust" turned out after a 4 1/2 hour drive up there, to have completely frilly rear arches which had recently been sprayed over to disguise the rust and massive structural rust behind one of the front shock towers.

Hmmmmm. Not impressed. That's 450 miles round trip and £60 in petrol I'll never see again.

Ho hum!

Brilliant Red,Sterling Silver, Diamond Black and Granite Silver this is complete with colour swatches. Then another one with price list and specs ( Bill Gates Is correct) it states that metallic paint is available at £375. so that means its possible to see a Sport in many other colours, Kashmir Beige is in the brochure as metallic ugh!! This all relates to 1990 I will be going through the others when I have time.

Spent a few hours at the Car Club office yesterday I was able to go through all the E30 brochures. I have a number of them on loan and I will be able to copy them. Not had much chance to study them yet. As regards to the colours available to the Sport, I have one that says the Sport models available in these colours. With regards to the colours, if you were willing to pay, then you could have any available colour at the time of manufacture, I've seen a blue sport that I originally thought wasn't genuine, but later found out it was, it was a sort of pastel blue, can't remember the name, EDIT, I think it was called mineral blue!...very very rare colour.

Granite grey is another very rare colour, and also as Chris says Vulcan grey.

Also, a car that is made up to look like a sport could save you some money if it's a kitted and LSD'd 325i SE, if the money is right, you could be better of buying a good SE with the options, than paying the premium for a sport.

Chris, sorry I didn't reply to your PM on the zone, I have the spare key, user manual for the sport here ready to be posted, still no sign of the cruise though....

Could you PM me your addy please!? Cheers!

i don't think the reds varied that much on the later e30's (excluding m3's) and brill was the only one, don't think henna was available after a certain date. i suppose dolphin is a kind of dark silver. i know that bmw offered vulcan grey for a very short period but have only heard of this colour and never seen it before but i believe it was available on the e30, it is a non metalic grey. looks sweet as far as i've heard.

Yes sorry I was slightly generalising e.g if you find a green blue gold  one etc , its a pup

Dolphin grey is sort a silver, there are probably red variants also as in the E30 M3

yep just seen your post Chris forget the red variant bit ! OOPS

yeah, been checking looks like your right on the colour thing. heres what i've found up until now

Dolphin Grey
Brilliant Red
Diamond Black
Sterling Silver
Lachs Silver
Alpine White

i know that the headlining is a real bitch to change which is why most don't bother changing it. it should also have soft velour carpets, rather than just normal weave carpets.

Yep 99.9 % sure ! I have seen lots of Sport Wannabees out there in various colours some even 4 doors  . but as i say most don't go to the trouble of changing the roof lining .
