   Hi,
Currently tooling around in a 20 yr old 635, but likely to start having to commute 600+ miles a week in the not to distant future, and barring me striking oil in the back garden, the 635 is not a practical proposition, and thus will be relegated to the role of weekend car.
So, looking for something to soak up the miles, with plenty of go, and economical to boot. My thoughts are towards getting an E39 530d, would appreciate some comments on (a) how economical (both MPG and associated running costs) (b) how powerful/fun to drive and finally (c) what should I be looking to pay (probably looking at 99/00 at the newest).
Any other information much appreciated.
