Hi All, I am a Porsche 911 996 Targa owner active in their club.

Seriously thinking of 630 convertible or M3 convertible, as now have baby and want a practicle convertible something Porsche can not do. As a result wanted to introduce myself and find out what things the club get up to in my area. I live in Chelmsford.

Tnx,

Joel

Hi Joel,

Coasting is the man to talk to about E46 M3 Conv, he has one.

There are a number of board members in Essex & surrounding counties. I am just up the road from you in Witham.

Have you visited the new Chelmsford BMW showroom yet?

Yes popped into the new dealership on my way home from work last week, live around the corner, walking distance.

Went to look at the 630i cab and liked a lot. Wanted a manual but only auto cars "in stock" with decent spec.

Started looking at the M3 cab, very impressed. Dealer thinks it would suit me better as I am younger and an active driver. Although the boot is smaller, buggy and a holdall/couple of small bags will fit so great improvement of the 911 no chance of a buggy in that.

When will the new shape M3 Cab come out? Is it worth buying the old shape so close to it's launch. The deler will do me a deal on a stock car.

Oh you poor thing...forced to choose between those two cars.

Welcome to the forum, and hopefully the club, congratulations to you and Mrs Joel on the baby.

Best Wishes

Nigel

Yes, I have had to work on average 65 hours a week for the last 10 years to get there but although many a time I got fed up seeing a dealer fetch an M3 Cab from the compound and racing up to me to take a look was rather exciting, love the sound of the 6cyl engine!

Welcome to the Forum Joel

I may stand corrected here but my experience of the 3 cab is you can forget about the boot if you want the roof down! The M3 is a fantastic car has to be said....

All the best and happy hunting!

Cheers

Guys, I have placed a deposit on a 630i Cabrio and waiting for Lind to get it into stock.

Does the East Anglia Region have a regulary monthly meet, please let me know as I would like to attend to see what you get up to!

Anyone want a 911 Targa?

Not really Joel, seems to be very little activity in this region. Will go to the central monthly meets which alternate between Milton Keynes, Northampton and Aylesbury. I haven't been yet as I have been skint or had problems with my car. Should be going to Northampton meet in May, if the wifes not working. More info on the central region forum.

Perhaps we should sort out an informal monthly pub meet for a few libations ourselves? Somewhere conveinient for all? Braintree/Stansted?? Any suggestions?

The Porsche club have an impropmtu evening car show and BBQ every July where they invite other car clubs down to show. Last year we had Astons, TVR's and a Marcos. Perhaps this year a few BM's? Great food and Great cars what else could you want, even the kids and wive's go along.

Joel,

I deleted your PM B4 reading it last nite, D'Oh!

sorry about that.

Congrats on your new car, I can't wait to see it.

I'm at the LIND Chelmsford parts counter every Sat, not that i'll ever see you there!

The E23/E24/E28 nutters are trying to organise a meet soon. members are widely spread around London/Herts/Essex/Kent/sussex and to make things worse our E23's (pre 1986 7 series) can only go 50 miles before they conk out

Why not start a post in the General Members Forum about a meet? lets see who's up for some action.

no pics yet except on ny mobile, but it is silver with black leather

630i cabriolet, automatic, sat nav, TV, bluetooth, 6 CD, wind defelctor, voice command.

If you head for the A12 meet I may see you there. I drive the car most Sundays to my parents in Highwood near Margaretting, so a detour to the services at Shenfield may be on the cards.

sorry only had the car a week and have been busy, it has also been back to the dealer for 2 days to sort some minor issues.

I am impressed they are looking after me very well, probably because I am thinking of a mini or 1 series as well.

Will come back with some piccys soon...
