Topic: Interior colour Posted: 27-March-2005 at 06:45 |
I have a diamond black M3 that I am stripping out for race use.
I have removed the inner sound pads etc and the inside needs a bit of a paint. The colour is a sort of grey colour.
Has anyone painted the inside and if so what colour did they use that is durable.
I know I could go to Halfords and get a grey colour but I do not want it looking crap with a mixture of colours. I could paint it the diamond black but that colour is difficult to get hold of.
Any ideas.

They grey colour is probably the factory primer/corrosion protector??
I always painted the inside of my race cars black as I found I could concentrate easier and better in a dark car than a light one, don't know why, just thats me i guess?

Diamond Schwartz isnt that hard to get hold of at all...
if you are near North London a paint specialist called Morellis could sort you out easily, even halfords mix paint!

But for sure you won't spray the car with two pack diamond black with a two pack clear coat?????
I would go for some semigloss black, but two pack no tin stuff which will not look good for long.

No I was not going to spray the interior in 2 pack - but I was hoping to get some colour similar to the diamond black so that it does not look like a botched job.
I am thinking of getting some cellulose diamond black and spraying with a proper gun (I do have that) rather than using cans.
Although it is a track car with a little extra effort it can be made to look as though thought has gone into it.

You can make track cars look quite nice with a little bit of effort. Ian's rally car is for sure at the top of the track car beauties!
I just don't like the stolen and recovered look....

Uwe you have convinced me I will look into 2 pack - it may be worth the extra effort and safety gear needed.
