    Posted: 25-April-2003 at 10:41

HI all.

Just joined the forum cos I am in the process of buying a 330Ci Sport convertible. Was wondering if anybody had any advice. Specifically minimum spec, best colours to buy etc etc.

Any thoughts, advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Ben.

in the end m8 its up to you .  but here is my view only .

silver if you dont like cleaning to often

blue looks classy and turns heads when clean .

black nice but most buy black

red   errrmm no thanks

white  s##t looks terrible  also you have to wash it eery day

on a dark exterior get a lighter interior  and visa versa.

or look at a lot of cars b4 you buy to get the colour combo to your liking.

get what extras you will want and use ,,,rain senser ? cant you see its raining lol   light senser  dont you know its dark outside. get the sport version this looks far better than the standard bodykit and some items are included .

enjoy the car m8 , i bought  a coupe this time round as british weather dont let you get your moneys worth. plus the handleing is is better in the coupe .

just a little crazy.

I test drove the standard 330i convertable, light blue with cream interior. They had just sold the silver with black leather interior that I went to see.

Ride was crap, colour combo was crap.

They wouldn't let me test drive the black with black leather interior M3 convertible, it was prepared for a customer.

I'll just have to keep saving.

Thanks for the input guys.

I would be open to getting a coupe but the other half won't contribute unless its a cab. So a cab it is.

Steve it does surprise me that you call the ride crap, I quite enjoyed my first drive of a 330 cab. Apparently this one was just given back to Park Lane BMW by Princess Michael of Kent!

Regards

Ben.

you say park lane mate.   thats where i got mine from . peter adams drove the car up to nottingham after i saw it on the internet site of theirs.

great bloke and a great service , if you see him give him my reagards.just say a bald bloke said hi from nottingham.

the ride maybe a little soft for some on the standard cab but the sport is as good a ride as the m . after all it is the best cab on sale atm.

great choice mate let us know what colour combi you get and what extras if you dont mind.

good luck .

just a little crazy.

Still...umming and arrring at the moment.

Just been put in the position where I can afford it by promotion at work and the thought of buying one scares me a bit. Yet on thye other hand who wouldn't want one?

The car I have done a provisional deal on  is a 330 sport cab manual, topaz blue, grey leather, heated seats, single cd.

We'll see what happens, got to sell my car for the deposit.

What wheels do you get on the Sport? Are they 18", 'cause I'd certainly recommend ticking that box if they're not. See if they'll do you the Clubsport ones instead. I'd try not to go too mad on the options, but folding mirrors, xenons (if they're not standard), autochanger/Harmon Kardon sound would be on my list.

Mind you, I'd still go for a coupe no matter what the other half says - one of the best looking cars on the road and a future classic I reckon.

They are 18" and I like the style. It is a pre-registered car so options are not really an option if you know what I mean. It has leather and a single CD, but I will try to get a changer thrown in on the deal.

I do like the coupes but to buy a coupe it will cost me almost twicw as much ( cos she won't pay)!!!

All other opinions welcome.

Well the deal is done.

Orient blue with beige leather, heated seats, wind deflector, single CD, 6disc changer.

Picking it up next friday....barring mishaps. Sold my car to my sisters boyfriend, but won't be happy till I get that bankers draft in my hand. Then I just have to overcome the fear of driving it.

I think I should elaborate skull........My deposit, and I am paying 3/4 of the monthlies...just let the fiance contribute to make things a bit easier.

Mind you, if you are referring to a womans ability to take control then I agree. I will have to be on my guard. Luckily she uses the tube for work    I HAVE to drive!!!!
