Does anyone out there actually know what, if any, other Motorola handset could be used in place of the V50.  This is because it is quite a late model now and does'nt have as many capabilities as it's newer siblings.

Please can some one come forward with their infinate wisdom!

Hi,
Went through the same problem myself and I was told that the alternative was an aftermarket blue-tooth system which was pretty expensive, my car also has Sat-Nav / TV (I guess yours do too) and they could not confirm that any aftermarket system could intergrate with the Telephone Menu software already available when using the V50.

In the end I kept the V50 as I did not want to loose it's already very handy intergrated hands-free and Telephone Menu facility and bought a separate phone which re-directs to the V50 automatically when in the car, this of course mean't running 2 telecom contracts.

Consider yourself lucky!

My e39 came with integrated car kit for a Nokia 3110 (really old brick). It has a really old type connection for the power which you are unable to obtain any converters to connect a more recent phone.

Spoke to BMW (local dealer) who would "quite happily change it to a bluetooth system for £1800"

Needless to say - I still have my Nokia 3110 & swap the SIM to another phone when not in the car

I have a solution my dear Mr Crisis.  If you really want to install a better phone capability in your 5 then check out this link.

They have pioneered an after market I think even the BMW Developers would be impressed with.
