Gentlemen (and women if any).

Can we just keep the posts and replies down to an agreeable & friendly basis, without any personal digs.
We all have our own view points on certain issues, but the aim of this forum is to have a bit of a laugh, and gain knowledge and help others while we are at it.
If we're not careful in what is posted, and how it is posted/replied to, we run the chance of getting posts removed/edited by the moderators, or at worst getting banned. And this you have to agree, we all don't need.

Just thought I'd say this as many post of late have had to have a moderator step in in one form or another.

We can all be friends, I'm sure???

Well said AG. There's no need for criticism or sarcasm.

Better still, lobby the parties to restore the 25-year rolling exemption from road tax, which John Major started, and which Gordon Brown curtailed to cars made or registered before 1st January 1973.....

The original idea which John Major put into effect was based on 25 years. He'd got as far as cars registered or made before 1st Jan. 1973 before he rather carelessly, but inevitably, lost the '97 election to Tony B.Liar.

One of the first things Gordon Brown did as Chancellor was to put a freeze on the 25-year rolling exemption. The position has stayed fixed ever since, i.e. only cars made or registered before 1st Jan 1973 get to be road tax exempt, as long as they have their current MoT and insurance in place.

I'm surprised that the Tories have been silent about whether or not they will unfreeze the current position if they win power. Perhaps the classic car lobby have forgotten about this vote-winner?

I think you can look a little closer to home on this one too, but much worse.

Comrade Ken has been trying to get non catalytic cars banned from the charge zone, add to that his desire to increase the zone to anywhere within the M25 ...................

Best Wishes

Actually, Red Ken could completely turn around his reputation as a power-corrupted despot if he imposed swingeing taxes and insurance requirements on those awful (p)rickshaws trundling round certain parts of the West End of London.....

Meanwhile, in the Mayor's eyrie in City Hall, as the Kengestion Charge takes hold..... (with apologies to Hogarth et al):-

"It's working! It's WORKING! Nyahahahahahahaaaa! Soon we'll be able to collectivise Hyde Park and turn the WHOLE WORLD into a congestion zone! Nyahahahahahaha!"

"Boss, I can see a pigeon on a mountain bike crossing Tower Bridge!"

"Curses, Kiley! Arm the Crapita laser cannon and DESTROY IT! Nyahahahahahaha!!!!"

"But, Boss! That'll take three months to warm up!!!"

Why would they extend to the M25?It's a congestion zone in it's own right, well known as the biggest circular car park in southern England!

In Hamburg, old cars (and I mean OLD) are
encouraged - as long as they have a cataylst. That's
the Green Party lobby for you.
But 'old cars' mean stuff like 2002's, Fintail
Mercedes, W107 and Pagoda SL's and you do see
plenty of pre 1980 S Class cruising about as well as
the odd E3 (2500 BMW) saloon. No E23's though

Running a nice old car there is more of an informed
choice and a statement as opposed to HAVING to
drive an old car.

Oldest car I see as a regular in an immdetiately post
War Beetle, about a 1947 "Ivan Hirst' model in Black.
It does look superb I must say.

Aaaah, Ze good olt days, Ja?
