Von Paulus, what BM have you got?

You missed my point about the '84 onwards e23. That's when BMW got to cutting edge technology, ABS, Motronic, 4 speed switchable etc. They also redesigned the rear suspension to address the critism of it's ride - that suspension redesign carried forward to the e32.

If your friend has a good condition 735 e23 with leather for sale, get him/her to email me:-

I've no idea who he is but he comes onto this forum!
It's advertised here on the BMW CC website. The car
didn't look bad at all - a nasty looking scab on the
edge of one rear door and an off shade sunroof
panel but that was about it. Engine sounded superb.
Being an A plate means it would have switchable
auto, ABS etc.
He also has two 745i's so he obviously quite ill.

I have a 1998 750i, now on 120 off thousand miles.
Don't like the new 7 Series at all so will probably
change it when the time comes for a late E39 540i.
But I may as well run the 750 for ever - 200'000
miles? I keep the BMW warranty going so it's cheap
motoring really.

'A' plate would be a 4 speed with lock-up, but not necessarily switchable, that came in about a year later.

Do BMW have a cut-off age/mileage for their warranties? I've got a customer with a 750iL e38 who has had the drivers seat and fuel tank replaced under extended warranty. The tank and repair was £5K I think!

I'm the sad deviant with the 735i with leather for sale , yes it's a tidy reliable car with 11 months ticket , i better not say anymore  or else one of the mods will stop zymolling and edit my post ! . Any potential victims pm me .

Pete! So you are Hiab Boy! As I understand it, a Hiab
is a crane on the back of a lorry that collects old/dead
cars......

How fitting with 4xE23's!!

The guy driving (nursing) the R plate 7 along was a
slim handsome chap which made me think you'd
bought yet another one..........

I can't believe you haven't sold that yet. What on earth
is wrong with people these days? So much for being
an 'enthusiasts car'.

I have a problem car solving kit here. It's made by
Swan Vestas and costs 12 pence.

I bet that buffalo leather smells good when it's being
toasted!

No it definately wasn't me in the 730, i don't do carbs (unless they are fitted to an AMC pacer!).  Yes still no luck selling my sapphire 735, a constant stream of penniless vermin with entertaining stories and little else. I've lent it to a customer as a loan car while i sort his highline , he thinks its really funky !. Obviously its not as desireable as the e28 M5 that M......L....... hand out to victims ,but at least i own it ......

This reminds me of a story of a Mini I tried selling in
1988/9. It was an early one with the plate 6 SYC. I
bought it for £100, got it an MOT, transferred the
number and tried to sell the rest.

In the paper for £99 with a new MOT - nothing but
idiots. One turned up in a Marina Coupe with various
different colour panels, along with a fat bird who keft
asking how long the MTO was for

Down to £60, even bigger idiots. gave up for a couple
of weeks, readvertised it for £300 and it sold straight
away.

With your E23, you would make more money just
breaking it up and scrapping it. The engine must be
worth £200 to a 635CSi owner and I am sure you
would sell a couple of other bits off it.

Warranty just renewed (Feb) at a cost of 1200 Euros
(£700). I do it though the BMW Gebrauchtwagen
Garantie (used car guarantee) which is a European
version of the approved used car scheme.
It's odd how UK BMW dealers are keen to get rid of
the old cars - in Europe you still see BMW main
dealers with 10 year old E36 cars for sale, especially
in more rural parts of Germany.

The landline rang last night at 12.34am (i was awake recovering from a bad kebab!) obviously i didn't answer it. I lay in bed intrigued , had someone died? or had some loot loser spotted my e23 ad ?. I got up at 3.00 am curious to see if i was up for a will carve up, i pressed 1571 and amazingly he hadn't withheld his number and unsuprisingly  it was a Tmobile  number, (no doubt pay as you go as well ,i believe that is the preferred mode of phone usage amongst the under classes) and yes he left a message enquiring about 'the BM'. I bit my tongue and didn't reply, i'll save his number for a rainy night(late!) when i'm bored. Unfortunately from previous experiences selling 'disposable' cars i know this complete lack of regard for peoples time and sleeping habits is quite a common trait amongst amoeba, when you are on benefits and don't have/want to work  the clock becomes irrelevent. I would like to distinguish between these scum and most of us who are enthusiasts, we can and often do know better , we CHOSE to play with turds that just happen to be worth the price of a kingsize mars bar where as the people i speak of have no dollars (invariably because they are work shy ,chain smoking, scratchcard playing , sportswear clad , government sponsored scum) and just want a new car for nothing.    On sunday a nice couple came to have a look at a mustang GT i was 'serving' we drank tea on the lawn, we briefly negotiated , they gave me a deposit and left. They came back yesterday afternoon with a large bag and disappeared into the sunset. I never have problems selling higher priced cars, its always the cheapies that test my patience.  Phillip , how did you get on with that e23 you had on ebay, did it go to nigeria!.

I had the same thing years back when selling my old 3.0s Capri no calls, then the phone rang at 11.30pm, and he wanted to know the ins and outs of the car, told him to get a life and call back at a sensible hour, he never did though, sold it a few days later to someone who didn't really bother test driving it, turned up, paid me, drove away.

One of our regulars has a 1987 M535i Auto (E28)
with an engine issue, the rocker is broken from his
constant over revving.
What would you want for the engine? If you can't
break it, I guess it could come here and one of the
mechanics could pull the engine out and we could
dispose of the rest of it.

I know what you mean about these people and their
cheap mobiles, I won't deal with them at all. Believe
me, your car would have been razor blades by now if
it had been chopped in..............

Hiab, if you think the 'turds' are worth the price of a king size Mars bar, then why not try to sell it for that sort of money. Even I might be interested then! BTW, how much is a king size Mars bar now? I think they represent bad value, just a normal sized bar stretched and thinned out. What a scam!
If you've got it, a lorry brought it.

Ebay member Barrie Firth from Yorkshire won the car. Did not respond to any of my emails/messages. he only has a mobile # registered with ebay. I don't waste my money ringing mobiles. I reclaimed my ebay fees and left a Neg FB to add to his others.

On a more positive note, a member of this board wants to buy the car, so all is not lost.

Ebay is full of idiots expecting to get goods & cars in brand new cond. for peanuts.

there are some good folks on ebay too, its just that ebay take little action when you report non-paying idiots to them. ebay seem to not care that there rep is rapidly going down the toilet.
