Topic: Alarming goings on in Birmingham Posted: 25-April-2005 at 04:30 |
Wouldn't be anything to do with those DVLA(?) boys in their shoguns?

I havent noticed anything on my snooper, its unlikely to be anything official, as you have listed roads covered by West Mercia, West Midlands, and Staffordshire police area's, they dont normally talk, let alone co-operate at that level.

Have you got a buddy with a similar unit he could lend you?
Maybe you could assertain whether it's the unit at fault, or maybe something that all that particular model will pick up.
I certainly get less "spoof" warnings with a V1 than I ever did with a Bel 990.

Oh dear, that doesn't sound good for snoop!
I haven't had any other probs this week anywhere else in the UK (and I have done nearly 2k miles this week!
I was in B'ham yesterday and this phenomenon is pretty much contained to the motorway network.
Maybe the detector is off as I can't tie this to any posts or gantries etc.
Are these worth fixing?, or is the wallet due out again!!

Not noticed anything untoward on mine, but I have been in Devon where RF from a TV mast has interfered with it.
Went down the M42, M40 last Monday onto M25, all seemed the usual activity, nothing odd.
Is your detector off tune ?

Sure, Emissions start on my snooper S5R at the interchange between the M42 & M5 and continue all the way north past the M5/M6 interchange to just after the joining of the M6 & M6 toll road.
Southbound starts on M6/M6 toll split and continues down the M6 toll and round the M42 to junction 5 (NEC) where it stops.
I dont use the old M6 southbound usually as I go M6/M5/M42 to get to the M40 - much quicker at 5pm and its on the company!
Inboard of the motorways it is a little more patchy, but strong in castle bromwich, and just south (toward M5) of the Black Country Industrial estates.
I will be in central Brimingham tomorrow PM so will continue my research!!

The last few times i have been in, around and through Birmingham i have been getting very regular and very strong readings on K-Band radar.
It is always central and northern birmingham.
Has anyone else seen this on their detectors?
God forbid, but could this be some form of test jamming device being used by west mercia police?
I can see how this would irritate users enough to switch them off in these areas, so that we are easy prey!!!
