All very intriguing, i was briefly on the old 7 series forum until they started charging, some of the guys seemed to have a holier than thou attitude just because they had £3000 e38s (on the strap no doubt!). Did it all go pearshape ?.
Profit is more reasonable than justice.

The 7 register is going strong with over 100 members paid up.  However, it looks like one of the original forum admin team, who perhaps didn't agree with the commercial direction it was taking, has started another almost identical forum without a fee basis.

The hard core of members have already signed up but there won't be a mass exodus (cause they'll want their £15 worth from the other one ), but time will tell when subscriptions come up for renewal.

Between this forum, the 7 register and the 7 forum, it's a bit like going out for a night on the town...  It doesn't matter which nightclub you move on to - you always meet the same people!!

Good to see this phoenix site. Even a post from Martynn (NZ) looking for a home. Hopefully we will see all the 'old' 7 enthusiasts be able to post up again. Won't be leaving here though (CC member anyway), but just broadens our 7 net.

I think the 7reg forum should have gone the way of the e30zone, that has a massive number of users, it's incredible.
I'll have to have a look at that site.

You can of course guarantee that Hiabboy and I will

Is your forum suspension over Andy?

How long do reckon you will last this time?

As you love abusing 80s rubbish cars, why not give us the lowdown on 80s Mercs SE/SEC & Audi Avant Quattro etc - 80s classics or sad duds?

560SEL or an E23 735i. The two aren't even in the
same league. One was a seventies throwback with
lots of gadgets, the other was a ground up design to
challenge and beat Rolls Royce. A good 560SEL is
now about £1500 worth, and the gorgeous SEC
about £5-10'000 for a nice one.
W126 V8 Mercs were probably the best all round
saloon cars of their day. But the E32 was probably a
better car, esp with the 4 litre V8.
My 1996 S Class W140 (The Panzer) was a hell of a
weapon, but a bit of a tank really.

BTW, Hiabboy is collecting a 1984 735i Executive
from me later this week - Bronzit, full Buffalo with
dash etc, MOT'd, good runner, sticky front calipers,
various marks/scabs but really not at all bad. Nice
engine and gearbox, limited slip diff a/c etc. The
instructions are to get rid of it.
It would be a good donor for a proper interior and
loads of other bits. It would (almost) be a pity to
crush it.

Edited for content, please read forum guidelines regards selling

Instead of crushing it, why not put it in the for sales section (link top right) then put a link to it on the forum. Be a shame to see another one on the scrap heap - felt awful when I saw an old E30 I used to own in a scrap yard, doors leaning agaist a pile of junk.

How good are the W126 280/380/420/500 models? which, if any, are duds? I've always liked their looks & build quality.

the slab sided W140 is a massive tank. I worked in Berkeley Square around 96/97, it was heaving with them, carrying corporate fat cats to lunch no doubt.

W140? Yuk!! They were a superb car but such a big
ugly old tank - unloved in Ze Fatherland where a nice
W126 is now increasing in value (unlike the E23/32!)

The W140 is popular in Eastern Europe as a
gangsta wagon.

The W126 was launched in late 1979 and ran until
1991. The floorpan and suspension were based on
the previous W116 which arrived in 1972 which
illustrated how far ahead of the game Mercedes
were with big cars.
A gloss black 560SEL in mint standard condition is
still an amazing car.

On the subject of Mercs, I drove a CL500 yesterday -
probably my next car . ......in about 6 months.

They don't!!

Basically, I don't want idiots ringing me up at
11.30pm about a 22 year old banger asking me
a) what make the tyres are
b) If I'll take a J reg Cavalier in p/x
c) Asking me if I'll wait 2 months for my Wine Club
refund to come through assuming I sell my
knackered Opel on Ebay to scrape together £2-300,
promising to send a cheque and not having the good
manners to apologise when I bottle out. Plus all the
other drama involved in trying to get rid of it. I'm
moving house and don't need the aggro.

Ebay is too much aggro and the local brerakers
WANT £25 to come and take it away. Not interested
in breaking a 1984 BMW in the drive of house either
thanks. Removing the plates and dumping it in a lay
by is a less socially acceptable solution, but has
been considered.

As for advertising, I haven't advertised anything. Quite
the opposite. I DON'T want people hassling me
about it!!
