Can anyone help?

I have recently purchased a 92 318i, the factory fitted alarm appears not to work,module etc all look in place.Is there a common fault with these or can anyone give advice on checking the system,many thanks!!

Depending on what system it is there should be a rubber cover hiding an on/off key lock on the siren/alarm body in the engine compartment.

If there is you should have a key for this (hopefully), put the key in and turn it then check whether its working. Sounds simple but my old man had the same on his 318 1994 and thought the alarm was kaputt for 3 months til he turned this on!!!

Many thanks for your reply! Unfortunately, i have tried turning it on with the key and i still have no response, i was hoping their may be something else that i would need to check to rectify the problem! Any suggestions??

Again,it may be stating the obvious but have you tried a new battery in the keyfob/alarm unit?
